CEAT, one of India's leading tyre manufacturers, has launched a new Truck Bus Radial (TBR) tyre production line at its Chennai plant. This expansion will help CEAT increase its production capacity and meet the growing demand, especially in international markets.
The new TBR production line at CEAT’s Chennai facility is expected to produce up to 1,500 tyres per day within the next 12 months. This move will significantly enhance CEAT's ability to supply high-quality tyres to both domestic and global customers.
The launch of this new production line aligns with CEAT's broader growth strategy. The company is working to expand its presence in international markets like Europe and the United States. Arnab Banerjee, Managing Director & CEO of CEAT, described the new TBR line as an essential step in the company’s global expansion plans. He emphasized that CEAT is committed to offering a wide range of tyres and leveraging smart technologies to improve workplace safety and efficiency.
Jayasankar Kurruppal, Senior Vice President of Manufacturing at CEAT, highlighted the advanced safety measures and technology being used at the Chennai plant. The project was carried out using in-house equipment and domestic solutions, helping the company keep costs under control while maintaining high-quality standards. The plant uses cutting-edge automation and real-time data systems to enhance both safety and productivity.
CEAT’s Chennai plant is located in Sriperumbudur and covers 160 acres. It is known for its commitment to sustainability, with 40% of its energy needs met through renewable sources, including a 5 MW solar rooftop installation. CEAT plans to increase this to 50% by 2025. The plant also operates as a zero liquid discharge facility, ensuring minimal environmental impact.
In recognition of its focus on safety, the plant has earned certifications like the British Safety Council 5-Star Award and the prestigious Sword of Honour.
With this new production line, CEAT is not only boosting its production capabilities but also reinforcing its commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainability as it continues to expand globally.
CEAT's new Truck Bus Radial production line in Chennai marks a major step in its global expansion. This upgrade enhances production capacity, supports international growth, and underscores CEAT’s commitment to safety, technology, and sustainability. The Chennai plant’s advanced operations and eco-friendly practices reflect the company's forward-thinking approach.
