During the Kharif crop season, water for irrigation is crucial. To support farmers, the state government is offering subsidies to build ponds and wells in their fields. This will help to conserve the rainwater for irrigation.

Subsidy Details

Under this scheme, farmers can receive 80% to 100% subsidy:

  • Private Land: 80% subsidy for constructing wells.
  • Community Land: 100% subsidy for constructing wells.
  • Private Land: 90% subsidy for constructing ponds and farm ponds.

Requirements for Wells and Ponds

Farmers must follow specific guidelines for the construction:

  • Private Land Wells: 10 feet diameter, 30 feet depth.
  • Community Land Wells: 15 feet diameter, 30 feet depth.
  • Private Land Ponds: Size 150'X66'X10'.
  • Farm Ponds: Size 100'X66'X10'.

Eligibility for the Scheme

This scheme is available for farmers in nine districts of Bihar:

  • Patna
  • Rohtas
  • Jamui
  • Arwal
  • Jehanabad
  • Nalanda
  • Sheikhpura
  • Buxar
  • Kaimur

Currently, the farmers from other districts are not eligible.

Required Documents

To apply, farmers need:

  • Aadhaar card
  • Residence certificate
  • Ration card
  • Bank account details (copy of passbook)
  • Land Holderness Certificate (LPC, not earlier than January 1, 2023)
  • Caste certificate
  • Passport size photo
  • Photo of the construction site

How to Apply

Applications are open till July 20, 2024. Farmers need to apply online at the Bihar Water Development Scheme website with a DBT registration number. If not registered, farmers can also get their DBT number at DBT Agriculture Bihar.

For more details, farmers can contact their District Agriculture Deputy Director, Land Conservation, or Assistant Director (Crops) Land Conservation.
