Ashok Leyland holds the position of the fourth largest bus manufacturer globally and is the largest bus manufacturer in India.
Ashok Leyland, India's leading commercial vehicle manufacturer and the flagship of the Hinduja Group, has secured a substantial order from the Karnataka State Transport Undertakings for a total of 1225 fully built Viking buses. The delivery of these buses is scheduled to be completed by April 2024.
In a recent press release, the company revealed that it has been the preferred brand for Karnataka State Transport Undertakings (STUs), with a fleet of more than 11,680 operational buses. The newly ordered buses will comply with AIS153 standards, emphasizing superior passenger comfort and safety for both passengers and drivers.
These buses come equipped with advanced features, including a robust H-series 6-cylinder 147 kW (197 hp) engine and OBD-II certification, showcasing the company's commitment to technological excellence.

Shenu Agarwal, the Managing Director and CEO of Ashok Leyland, expressed delight in continuing the longstanding partnership with Karnataka State Transport Undertakings. He highlighted the crucial role of local mobility in national and economic growth and reiterated the company's commitment to providing advanced, innovative, and efficient transport solutions.
Sanjeev Kumar, President- M&HCV at Ashok Leyland, emphasized that the buses are specifically tailored to meet the unique requirements of Karnataka State Transport Undertakings. He sees the repeat order as a clear indication of the trust customers place in Ashok Leyland, showcasing the reliability, durability, and robustness of the company's engineering.
