Ashok Leyland has announced that it has received the single largest completely built bus order from the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) for 2,104 Viking passenger buses. According to a press statement, the total consideration for this order is around Rs 981.45 crore. The contract's execution period is from August 2024 to August 2025.

These modern, fully manufactured buses will meet the most recent Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) specifications and include AIS 153 compliant bodywork.

The domestic company MSRTC has granted an order for the provision of BSVI OBD II Diesel Fuel Type Fully Built Passenger Buses. They will also be outfitted with proven iGEN6 BS VI OBD II technology, which includes a 197 HP H-Series Engine and Rear Air Suspension, among other innovative features.

The buses will be built at Ashok Leyland's proprietary bus body plants employing cutting-edge technology, delivering greater safety, comfort, and a cheaper total cost of ownership for MSRTC.

Shenu Agarwal, Ashok Leyland's Managing Director and CEO, expressed his enthusiasm for the continued collaboration with MSRTC.

He said, "We are excited to continue our long-standing partnership with the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). This new order demonstrates our commitment to delivering highly efficient and technologically advanced products that will drive the growth of public transit throughout the country."

He continued: "Our deep understanding of our customers and our ability to quickly respond to their needs is what sets us apart."

Sanjeev Kumar, President of Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCV) of Ashok Leyland, shared similar view, saying, "We are delighted to have received this order from MSRTC. The order victory demonstrates our clients' confidence and faith in our products. Our buses, which are specifically built to satisfy the special requirements of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation, demonstrate the dependability, longevity, and robustness of our goods."

He continued, "We are happy to offer MSRTC and the people of Maharashtra a contemporary fleet that ensures outstanding comfort and the greatest safety standards. This order underlines our clients' trust in Ashok Leyland."

As one of the world's top five bus manufacturers, Ashok Leyland's recent order strengthens its position in the Indian and global bus industries.
