Cybersecurity Audit Details

The audit covered buses connected to an Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS). This system includes automatic run-kilometre calculations for operator payments, GPS-based Automatic Vehicle Location Systems (AVLS), Passenger Information Systems (PIS), and CCTV surveillance. The integration of vehicle systems and backend platforms made a structured cybersecurity assessment necessary.

The assessment included in-car networks, firmware, CCTV, mobile NVR (mNVR) devices, ITS modules, PIS and LED display systems, panic button mechanisms, RPAS components, APIs, online portals, and data storage infrastructure. The team used gray-box penetration testing in line with ISO/SAE 21434 standards, AIS-189 guidelines, and UN R155 Annex 5 threat scenarios.

Significance for Public Transport

On February 13, 2026, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the newly protected fleet. He emphasized the importance of cybersecurity in public transport as vehicles become more digital and connected.
