In the initial phase, Amazon introduced Mahindra Zor Grand three-wheeler EVs for last-mile deliveries. These three-wheelers can travel at speeds up to 50 km/h and cover over 100 kilometers on a single charge.

Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) can use the scheme to lease a fleet of customized three-wheeler EVs from a fleet management provider. DSPs will have access to zero-emission electric vehicles that are safe and designed specifically for Amazon deliveries.

amazon india ev lease program

Amazon India has taken a significant step towards sustainability by launching an electric vehicle (EV) lease program for its last-mile delivery partners. This initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions and enhance efficiency in the final phase of package delivery.

Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) can use the scheme to lease a fleet of customized three-wheeler EVs from a fleet management provider. DSPs will have access to zero-emission electric vehicles that are safe and designed specifically for Amazon deliveries. Over 300 Amazon DSPs will soon begin employing zero-emission three-wheelers and vehicles for deliveries.

Here are the key highlights of Amazon India’s EV lease program:

Global First for Amazon:

India has become the first country where the company is implementing a 100% electric last-mile fleet program. This program is part of Amazon’s commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

Over 300 delivery service partners (DSPs) will soon begin delivering packages using zero-emission three-wheelers and vans.

Customized Electric Vehicles:

The program enables Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) to lease a fleet of customized three-wheeler EVs through a fleet management company. These electric vehicles are specifically designed for Amazon deliveries, ensuring safety and efficiency.

Safety and Customization:

DSPs gain access to zero-emission electric vehicles that prioritize safety. The vehicles come equipped with advanced safety features. Data generated by these EVs allows Amazon to optimize deliveries for safety and punctuality.

Mahindra Zor Grand Three-Wheelers:

In the initial phase, Amazon introduced Mahindra Zor Grand three-wheeler EVs for last-mile deliveries. These three-wheelers can travel at speeds up to 50 km/h and cover over 100 kilometers on a single charge. With zero tailpipe emissions, they are ideal for areas with poor air quality.

Collaboration for a Sustainable Future:

Suman Mishra, MD, and CEO of Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, expressed excitement about contributing to Amazon’s cleaner, more sustainable last-mile logistics. The Mahindra Zor Grand three-wheeler not only enhances cargo delivery efficiency but also contributes to improved air quality and lower driver fatigue.

The India fleet launch precedes the festive season of Diwali. Amazon plans to add more electric three- and four-wheelers to the fleet over time.

Tom Chempananical, Director of Global Fleet and Products at Amazon, emphasized that these electric vehicles will raise the bar for last-mile delivery services, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient package deliveries.

Amazon’s commitment to electrifying its fleet demonstrates its dedication to environmental responsibility and innovation in the logistics industry. By empowering its delivery partners with zero-emission EVs, Amazon sets an example for sustainable last-mile delivery practices in India and beyond.
