Hydrogen trucks offer the same range and load capacity as diesel trucks but with lower emissions and noise.
Adani Group Deployed Hydrogen Truck for Mining in Chhattisgarh

Key Highlights:

  • Adani Group flagged off India's first hydrogen-powered truck in Chhattisgarh.
  • The company want to replace diesel vehicles with Hydrogen fuel cell trucks for cleaner transport.
  • Chhattisgarh CM flags off the first hydrogen truck, highlighting the state’s focus on sustainability.
  • Adani uses smart tech, autonomous dozers, and solar power to promote eco-friendly mining.
  • Hydrogen trucks emit only water vapour, reducing emissions, noise, and India’s oil imports.

Adani Group has launched India’s first hydrogen-powered truck for mining logistics in Chhattisgarh. The Hydrogen truck can carry up to 40 tonnes of cargo over a 200-kilometre distance.

Hydrogen Trucks to Replace Diesel Trucks

Adani Enterprises started using hydrogen fuel cell trucks to replace diesel vehicles in its logistics operations. Adani Enterprises is the flagship company of the Adani Group. Adani Enterprises was selected as the mine developer and operator for the Gare Pelma III Block by Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited through a bidding process.

These hydrogen trucks will transport coal from the Gare Pelma III Block to a state power plant. Adani is working together with Indian and global energy tech companies and a top automobile maker to build hydrogen fuel cell trucks for carrying goods. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai flagged off the first truck in Raipur.

Hydrogen is a clean energy source that emits only water vapour and warm air. Hydrogen trucks offer the same range and load capacity as diesel trucks but with lower emissions and noise. Since the mining industry relies heavily on diesel machinery, using hydrogen trucks will reduce emissions and noise, help lower oil imports, and support India’s climate goals.

Smart Features and High Capacity

The hydrogen truck has smart technology. It will have three hydrogen tanks. It can carry 40 tonnes and travel 200 km on a full tank.

Government’s Support

Chief Minister Sai said the launch reflects Chhattisgarh’s commitment to sustainability. He added that the initiative will help reduce the carbon footprint and set new standards in the mining sector.

Leadership Insights:

Vinay Prakash, CEO of Adani Natural Resources, said the group is working on sustainable mining using technologies like autonomous dozers, solar power, digital tools, and tree transplanters. The goal is to provide affordable electricity and reduce environmental impact.

Joint Effort Within Adani Group

The project is a collaboration between Adani Natural Resources (ANR) and Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL). ANR will use hydrogen cells from ANIL, which is also involved in green hydrogen, solar, wind, and battery manufacturing. Adani Natural Resources deals in coal, minerals, and metals. Its portfolio includes iron ore, copper, aluminium, LPG, and more. It plays a key role in supplying raw materials to industries.

Asia’s First Semi-Autonomous Dozer Push

Adani is also the first in Asia to use Dozer Push Semi-Autonomous Technology. This technology improves safety and sustainability in mining.

CMV360 Says

Adani’s move to deploy hydrogen trucks in mining is a major step toward modern and cleaner industrial practices. It reduces pollution and noise compared to diesel trucks, and supports a greener future. But building the hydrogen supply network will be tough. If it works, this could inspire other industries in India to go green too.
