Tata Motors, India's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, makes new trucking history with the introduction of India's first CNG-powered Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV) truck, a new-age Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), and the addition of world-class features to its bestselling Prima, Signa, and Ultra trucks. A new line of innovative Intermediate & Light Commercial Vehicle (I&LCV) tippers and trucks has also been introduced to meet the evolving multi-application needs, particularly in the rapidly growing logistics and infrastructure sectors.

The cutting-edge trucks were developed and innovatively designed to meet the increasing needs of freight and construction transportation across segments and applications. Tata Motors' established the 'Power of 6' value package intended at increasing productivity and lowering total cost of ownership (TCO), hence driving fleet profitability.

What makes Tata trucks, a light commercial vehicle?

Light commercial trucks are the vehicles of choice for distributing and transporting commodities over small distances and within certain geographical areas. Tata Motors LCV models are classified as LCVs due to their medium size and ability to move products between cities. They're also durable and compact, with low running expenses and fuel-efficient engines that make them ideal for intra-city operations. Overall, Tata LCV trucks are tough commercial vehicles that serve as the backbone of India's products transportation infrastructure.

Vehicles weighing 26,001 pounds or more are classified as commercial. Trucks are large commercial vehicles that transport commodities, both perishable and non-perishable, from one end of the country to the other. Tata Motors is a significant automobile manufacturer in India, producing a variety of light and heavy commercial vehicles such as trucks, tippers, tractors, and trailers. Light commercial vehicles are trucks with a maximum gross vehicle weight of 3.5 metric tons and above up to 15 metric tons (LCVs).

Tata Motors has launched numerous high-performance tata trucks that are regarded as remarkable LCVs in the industry, utilizing cutting-edge technology. These include the Tata 407g sfc, Tata 909, Tata 709g lpt, and Tata Ultra models. These versatile vehicles outperform many others that are utilized for many LCV roles, such as a poultry trucks, closed containers, mobile ATMs, PU tankers, ambulances, and other carriers.

Furthermore, its new product line includes Fleet Edge, the next-generation digital solution for effective fleet management.The M&HCV and ILCV product lines offer a variety of advantages to fleet owners. This covers on-site assistance, uptime guarantee, breakdown assistance, insurance, accidental repair, Extended Warranty, and other vehicle maintenance and lifecycle management add-on services. The addition of Fleet Edge is the icing on the cake for India's leading automaker's new product journey.

These M&HCV and I&LCV trucks are used for a variety of goods movement and applications in a variety of industries, including agriculture, cement, iron & steel, container, vehicle carrier, petroleum, chemical, water tankers, LPG, FMCG, white goods, perishables, construction, mining, and municipal applications.

Other variants, such as the LPT 1512g type, provide up to 10% higher fuel efficiency and the maximum CNG capacity.The Ultra T.16 AMT has the distinct advantage of combining an ultra-cabin with a proven 3.3-litre engine. The LPK 610 model sports a high ground clearance and H2LS brakes for effective short-stop braking.

Because it is Tata's flagship, the Prima series also has the nicest interiors of the bunch. It receives two digital screens, and the renovated cabins will offer a fatigue-free driving experience for drivers while also assisting in logistical growth. Tata is working hard to ensure the safety of the driver, the goods, the road, and everyone else on the road with new features such as driver fatigue monitoring.

What makes all these products unique?

The CNG range has a wide range of characteristics, including a driving range of up to 1,000km. The aforementioned vehicles have a quick turnaround time since they have dual nozzles for fast filling of CNG and are driven by a highly fuel-efficient gas engine that gives the lowest cost of ownership.

With the introduction of the 7" advanced HMI touch screen coupled with sophisticated connectivity capabilities, an all-new instrument cluster, an easy-to-access switch panel, and a three-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls and Bluetooth connectivity, all fleet operators stand to gain.

Tata Motors intends to revolutionize the heavy commercial vehicle ecosystem as a whole. The transformation will be brought about by safety and connected vehicles.

Seven new I&LCVs have been introduced which are given below-

  1. The LPK 610 has a high ground clearance and H2LS brakes for excellent braking with a short stopping distance.
  2. LPT 709g XD (5 sq.ft.) increased deck space and up to a 10% increase in fuel efficiency.
  3. SK 710 tipper with a 4 m3 body on the dependable SFC platform.
  4. The Ultra T.12g is powered by a dependable 3.8-litre SGI turbocharged engine.
  5. Ultra K.14 best-in-class comfort, air-conditioned cabin, and 37% grade-ability.
  6. LPT 1512g has a 10% higher fuel efficiency and the highest CNG capacity.
  7. The Ultra T.16 Cx features a reliable 3.3-litre engine and a pleasant Ultra interior.

The FE Series of 7 new fuel-efficient diesel and CNG trucks and tippers offers better application-oriented solutions with more vehicle weight and deck length options. These trucks integrate significant technology developments such as optimised drivelines, low viscous rear axle oil, e-viscous radiator fan, shifting advisor, and low rolling resistance tyres to increase the earning potential of their owners while also improving driveability and longevity.

The CNG range of Signa series trucks, which includes the LPT 1918, Signa 2818, and LPT 2818, is next in line. All of these are CNG-powered, with a new 5.7L SGI engine producing 180 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque with a tank range of up to 1,000 kilometers. Tata Motors is working hard to alter the logistics industry, and with CNG as a fuel and as an early adopter, we may expect additional OEMs to follow.
