India is currently witnessing a mix of weather conditions, including extreme heat in the north and central regions, while southern and northeastern states are expected to get rain and thunderstorms. The latest weather forecast brings important updates for several states.
Parts of northern and central India are facing intense heat. Heatwave conditions are likely in Rajasthan, Delhi, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and parts of Punjab and Haryana. Temperatures are soaring up to 41°C in some areas, with warm nights adding to the discomfort.

Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal: Thunderstorms, rain, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) – April 9

Kerala & Mahe: Rain, gusty winds, and lightning – April 9
East & Northeast India: Scattered thunderstorms and rain – April 9 to 12

Bihar: Isolated hailstorm – April 9
A well-marked low-pressure area lies over the southwest Bay of Bengal. It may move north-northwest and then weaken. This system, along with a trough from Uttar Pradesh to Bangladesh and cyclonic circulation over Madhya Maharashtra, is expected to bring rain and thunderstorms to several eastern and southern states.
A western disturbance in the mid-troposphere is likely to affect the western Himalayan region and northwest plains. Another trough is active from West Rajasthan to Vidarbha, increasing instability.

Temperatures will remain high across northwest, central, and western India for the next 2 days. However, a 2–4°C drop is expected after April 11, offering slight relief from the heatwave.

Gujarat & Maharashtra: No major change expected
Delhi-NCR is under a heatwave alert on April 9, with temperatures reaching up to 41°C. Cloudy weather with chances of thunderstorms and light rain is expected on April 10 and 11.
