The Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research (IIWBR), Karnal, has released a list of improved and high-yielding wheat varieties suitable for different climatic zones of India for the 2025-26 Rabi season. These recommendations are made keeping in mind the soil and weather conditions of various states.
By selecting region-appropriate varieties, farmers can achieve better yields with less effort and higher efficiency.
According to the institute, the first week of November is ideal for early wheat sowing.
For timely sowing, farmers should complete the process by November 20.
Sowing at the right time ensures balanced plant growth and helps maximize yield potential.
In states like Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat, where sowing begins in the first week of November, the following varieties are recommended under irrigated conditions: DBW 187, DBW 303, WH 1270, DBW 327, DBW 322, PBW 872, DBW 370, DBW 371, and DBW 372.
