The central government has released the 21st installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan) Yojana ahead of schedule, bringing major relief to farmers in three flood-affected states – Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh. A total of ₹540 crore has been directly transferred to the bank accounts of 27 lakh farmers under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
This early installment has been provided to support farmers whose crops were damaged due to heavy rains, floods, and landslides. This timely financial aid will help them buy seeds, fertilizers, and other agricultural inputs for the upcoming Rabi season.
Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan distributed this installment from Krishi Bhawan, Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi stands with farmers in difficult times, and this early transfer will provide them immediate relief.
Under this early release of the PM Kisan Yojana installment:
Himachal Pradesh: ₹160 crore transferred to 8 lakh farmers
Punjab: ₹225 crore transferred to 11 lakh farmers
Uttarakhand: ₹157 crore transferred to 7 lakh farmers
The Agriculture Ministry said this early transfer shows the government’s commitment to supporting farmers during natural disasters and ensuring timely financial help.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally visited the flood-affected regions, met farmers, and assessed crop losses. During his visit, he assured them that assistance would be provided quickly. Following his instructions, the 21st installment was released earlier than scheduled.
Under the PM Kisan Yojana, eligible farmers receive financial aid of ₹6,000 annually, credited in three equal installments of ₹2,000 every four months. The scheme aims to empower small and marginal farmers and make them self-reliant.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan highlighted that this installment will help farmers buy crucial farm inputs on time, ensuring they do not face financial stress before the sowing season.
Farmers in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand can check if the money has been credited to their account by following these steps:
