₹160 crore transferred to 40,000 PMAY-G beneficiaries.
Each got ₹40,000 as the first housing installment.
12,000 people received keys to new pucca houses.
Total of ₹1.20 lakh given in 3 installments.
Construction must be completed within 12 months.
The Central Government has taken another big step under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) to help the homeless. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred ₹160 crore directly to the bank accounts of 40,000 beneficiaries from Motihari, Bihar. This financial assistance is part of the government's goal to provide pucca houses to all eligible rural families.
As part of the Griha Pravesh event, PM Modi also handed over house keys to 12,000 beneficiaries, marking the successful completion of their homes under the scheme.
During this occasion, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of several development projects worth around ₹7200 crore for Bihar. This includes ₹162 crore specifically allocated for PM Awas Yojana.
The total financial help provided under PMAY-G is ₹1.20 lakh for people in plain areas and ₹1.30 lakh for those in hilly or inaccessible regions. This amount is released in three installments:
1st Installment: ₹40,000 – after construction work starts
2nd Installment: ₹40,000 – after walls and roof are built
Final Installment: Remaining amount – after the house is fully completed
In some states like Gujarat, the amount has been increased to ₹1.50 lakh through state government assistance.
Beneficiaries must complete house construction within 12 months. At every stage, they must submit photos of the construction and get certification from the Panchayat or Block office. Only after this, the next installment is released.
