Focus on combating spurious seeds and fertilisers.
Stronger Kisan Call Centres and support systems.
Boost in PM Fasal Bima Yojana enrolments.
Strengthening KVKs and agricultural extension services.
Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan to begin from October 3.
The two-day National Conference on Agriculture, Rabi Campaign 2025 concluded on September 16, 2025, in New Delhi with a series of key policy resolutions aimed at boosting farmer welfare, strengthening agriculture systems, and improving productivity for the upcoming Rabi season.
Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare & Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, addressed the valedictory session and strongly warned against the sale of counterfeit and substandard agricultural inputs, including seeds, fertilisers, and pesticides.
He announced that stringent legal provisions are being drafted to curb such practices and urged state governments to cooperate actively to protect farmers from exploitation. “Protecting farmers is a shared responsibility, and strict action must be ensured,” he said.
Minister Chouhan emphasised the importance of responsive farmer support systems. He stated that efforts are being made to improve the effectiveness of Kisan Call Centres and encouraged states to build strong support frameworks to resolve farmers issues quickly and fairly.
Chouhan also called for accelerated enrolment under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). He urged states to maximise the scheme’s reach so that more farmers can get protection from crop loss risks. “Every farmer must feel secure. Expanding PMFBY coverage is essential,” he said.
Highlighting the crucial role of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and state agricultural extension systems, the minister stressed the need to strengthen these institutions to ensure that modern research and scientific knowledge are transferred to farmers efficiently.
One of the major announcements was the launch of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, which will start on October 3, 2025. The campaign aims to implement a “Lab to Land” approach, translating agricultural research into practical benefits for farmers. Chouhan appealed to states to actively support this mission for nationwide impact.
The Minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his continuous support for farmers and rural communities. He urged stakeholders to ensure that GST reforms benefit rural areas and encouraged the adoption of Swadeshi products, supporting the vision of a self-reliant India.
The conference concluded with a collective pledge by the Centre and State representatives to work in unity for the holistic growth of Indian agriculture. Chouhan congratulated the officials and ministers for their contributions and expressed optimism that the outcomes would yield positive results in the Rabi 2025–26 season.

The launch of Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan on October 3 is expected to bridge research and practical farming solutions, benefiting millions of farmers nationwide.
