Delhi faces waterlogging, traffic jams after July 10 showers.
Landslide and flood risk rise in Himachal, Uttarakhand, and UP.
Fishermen are advised to avoid the sea till July 15 due to strong winds.
Monsoon to remain active across India in the coming days.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh monsoon alert for July 11 to 16, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of the country. This includes Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and many other states. According to the IMD, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds may also occur during this period.
On July 10, moderate to heavy rain, lightning, and winds (30–40 km/h) were recorded in Delhi-NCR. The rainfall led to waterlogging and long traffic jams in many areas. The weather department has forecast that cloudy skies and rainfall will continue on July 11, with the maximum temperature likely to remain around 32°C.
The IMD has predicted intermittent heavy rainfall in northwest India, including:
Himachal Pradesh
Uttarakhand (Heavy rain alert for July 13)
Punjab
Haryana
Jammu and Kashmir
Uttar Pradesh
Due to consistent rainfall in the last few days, the risk of landslides and rising river levels has increased significantly.
The monsoon remains active in central India, covering Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha. Forecast details:
Eastern and western MP: Good rainfall expected from July 11 to 14
Vidarbha: Heavy rain expected from July 11 to 13
The IMD's Agromet Division has advised farmers to ensure proper drainage in paddy fields to avoid crop damage.
Rainfall will continue in South India and along the western coastal belt, including:
Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh
Gujarat, Konkan, and Goa (July 12 to 16)
Ghat areas of central Maharashtra (July 13 and 14)
Fishermen have been advised to stay away from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal till July 15 due to strong winds reaching 45–55 km/h.
The IMD has issued a heavy rain warning for multiple districts in Uttar Pradesh, especially on July 11. Affected areas include:
Banda, Chitrakoot, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, and Lalitpur
Other districts like Kanpur, Mathura, Agra, Etawah, and Mirzapur may see rain along with thunder and lightning.
Max Temp: 30°C to 35°C
Min Temp: 24°C to 28°C
Lucknow: Max Temp at 34°C, Min at 27°C, and humidity at 89%
The Meteorological Department has warned of waterlogging in low-lying areas and the danger of lightning strikes, urging people to:
Stay indoors unless necessary
Avoid waterlogged zones
Keep track of official weather updates
Take all safety precautions
Meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh explained that the monsoon trough’s western end has moved toward the Himalayan foothills, while the eastern end has shifted southward. This shift is driving increased rainfall in UP and nearby states.
Additionally, a low-pressure area formed over West Bengal and Jharkhand is moving northwest, leading to potential heavy rain in western and southern UP within the next 48–60 hours.
Over the next few days, monsoon activity will be widespread across India. States like Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat will likely experience intense rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.
The IMD has issued a widespread alert for heavy rains, thunderstorms, and strong winds across multiple states till July 16. People are advised to stay indoors, avoid flooded areas, and follow safety guidelines. With the monsoon fully active, continuous updates and precautions are essential to stay safe and minimize the risk of weather-related incidents in affected regions.
The IMD has urged the public not to ignore weather warnings, follow safety instructions, and stay informed with regular updates.
Stay safe, stay updated, and avoid unnecessary travel during this active monsoon phase.
