One crore women may miss benefits due to incomplete e-KYC.
The e-KYC deadline is 18 November 2025.
Technical glitches earlier caused major delays.
The government may extend the deadline, but no official announcement has been made yet.
The November installment release was also affected by e-KYC issues.
The Maharashtra government’s Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, also known as the Ladli Behna Yojana Maharashtra, is facing a major challenge. As the mandatory e-KYC deadline approaches on 18 November 2025, around one crore women may be excluded from the scheme. Women across the state are demanding an extension of the deadline due to ongoing technical issues.

Around 2.35 crore women have registered under the scheme. However, the Women and Child Development Department reports that only 1.3 crore have successfully completed the mandatory e-KYC process.
Nearly one crore women are yet to complete it and are considered “unavailable”. If these women fail to finish e-KYC before the deadline, they may lose their benefits.
A senior official also mentioned that the government may consider extending the deadline, but no official announcement has been made yet.
When the scheme was launched, 2.5 crore women registered, and many cases of fraudulent applications were detected.
To verify identities and ensure only eligible women receive the benefits, the government introduced a mandatory e-KYC system.
Initially, women faced several issues, such as:
Website server failure
OTP not received
Repeated site crashes
Officials now say most glitches have been resolved, and the process takes only a few minutes. However, early problems delayed many women from completing the process on time.
With upcoming local body elections and elections for 29 municipal corporations, the government is avoiding taking tough measures that may upset beneficiaries.
Political parties have also started multiple campaigns:
E-KYC camps by Mahayuti leaders
BJP’s outreach through the “Behan Ladal, Bhaubij Devabhau Ki” campaign
The government's release of funds for Shiv Bhojan Thali to show public sensitivity
Although the Mahayuti manifesto promised to raise the allowance from ₹1,500 to ₹2,100, this has not yet been implemented. Experts say a decision may come in the budget session.

Women receive ₹1,500 monthly assistance under the scheme. The November installment is about to be released, but unresolved e-KYC issues have caused panic among beneficiaries.
Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare clarified that:
Technical updates on the website caused OTP and server problems
Women with no husband or father faced extra verification challenges
The website is now being updated to make e-KYC easier for such cases
She assured that once updates are complete, e-KYC will work smoothly.
Due to technical issues, women across Maharashtra are requesting the government to extend the 18 November deadline. Though no decision has been taken yet, beneficiaries hope that the deadline may be extended, considering the ongoing system updates.
Women can benefit from the scheme if they meet these conditions:
Age between 21 to 65 years
Annual family income below ₹2.5 lakh
Must be a resident of Maharashtra
Must complete mandatory e-KYC
The government says e-KYC ensures that the ₹1,500 monthly amount reaches eligible women without delays.

The Ladli Behna Yojana, Maharashtra, has brought financial relief to millions of women, but the approaching e-KYC deadline has created worry across the state. With nearly one crore women yet to complete the process, the government may face pressure to extend the deadline. Technical glitches, election sensitivity, and ongoing verification updates have slowed progress. Women now wait for the government’s next step to secure their future benefits.
