The government has introduced a new scheme to support paddy farmers. This scheme offers a bonus of Rs 20,000 per hectare to help increase the income of the farmers and assist in farming.

Maharashtra's Announcement

Recently, the Eknath Shinde government of Maharashtra made a significant announcement. The government will provide a bonus of Rs 20,000 per hectare to paddy farmers. This bonus is in addition to the minimum support price declared by the central government for the Kharif season. All registered farmers in the state can benefit from this bonus.

Bonus Eligibility and Limitations

Farmers can receive this bonus for up to two hectares of paddy cultivation. To qualify, farmers must register online at their district's marketing federation paddy procurement centers or at government paddy procurement centers of the Tribal Development Corporation.

Terms and Conditions

  • Mandatory Online Registration: Farmers must register online to be eligible.
  • Crop Area Documentation: The area of crop cultivation must be mentioned as per e-crop inspection on their Satbara certificate.
  • No Selling Restrictions: Farmers do not need to sell their paddy only at government centers to receive the bonus.
  • Direct Bank Transfer: The bonus will be transferred online to the bank accounts of all eligible farmers.
  • Bonus Calculation: The bonus will be decided according to the area of paddy production land as recorded by the e-Chosal app.

Additional Support for Farmers

Chief Minister Shinde stated that Rs 44,278 crore has been distributed to farmers through various schemes. Under the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Shetkari Samman Yojana, 4.4 lakh farmers received loan waivers amounting to Rs 18,762 crore. The state government has also established the Onion Maha Bank to help onion farmers with storage solutions.

Other Beneficial Schemes for Farmers

The Maharashtra government has launched several schemes to support farmers, including:

  • Namo Shetkari Mahasamman Nidhi Yojana: Modeled after the PM Kisan Yojana, this state-level scheme provides Rs 6,000 annually to farmers in three installments. This amount is separate from the Rs 6,000 received under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, giving Maharashtra farmers a total of Rs 12,000 per year.
  • Crop Insurance for One Rupee: Under the Namo Shetkari Mahasamman Nidhi Yojana, farmers can insure their crops for just one rupee. This insurance covers various crops, including paddy, jowar, bajra, ragi, maize, arhar, urad, green gram, groundnut, soybean, sesame, cotton, and onion. Both loanee and non-loanee farmers can voluntarily opt for this insurance.
