Farmer ID is now compulsory for all government schemes.
No benefits without Digital Farmer ID registration.
Register using Aadhaar, land papers, and mobile number.
Special camps to help farmers complete registration.
AI-based smart trap launched for pink bollworm control.
The central and state governments have made a digital farmer ID mandatory to ensure only eligible farmers benefit from government welfare programs. Farmers without a valid Farmer ID will not receive the advantages of government schemes like PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, crop insurance, crop loans, and subsidies for agricultural equipment.
The government is providing farmers with financial assistance, modern technology, and other resources through several schemes. However, it has been found that ineligible people were misusing these schemes. To prevent this, the Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhanrecently directed that no farmer will receive any benefit from government schemes without a Digital Farmer ID.
During a review meeting held in Nagpur, Maharashtra, the minister instructed that Farmer IDs should be made available to all eligible farmers as soon as possible. If not, farmers may miss out on important schemes, including the upcoming 20th installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.

The Farmer Registry ID is a unique identification number created to ensure that only eligible farmers get the benefits of agricultural schemes. With this ID:
Farmers don’t need to do KYC again and again.
They will get access to various government schemes transparently and simply.
Only registered farmers will be eligible for schemes like PM-Kisan, crop insurance (PMFBY), agricultural loans, and equipment subsidies.
Farmers can get their Farmer ID registered at the nearest CSC (Common Service Center) or Jan Seva Kendra by carrying the following documents:
Aadhaar Card
Mobile Number (linked to government schemes)
Land records (copy of Khatauni)
Ration card or Family Identity Number
Special camps will also be organized in villages like Panchayat Bhawans to help farmers get registered. A small fee may be charged at these centers.
In the same meeting, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan emphasized the need to develop crop varieties suitable for the climate of different regions. He said that farmers should plant climate-friendly crops for better yields.
The Agriculture Department has been instructed to:
Develop high-yield cotton varieties even for low rainfall areas.
Work on a state-wide best cropping model based on weather and soil conditions.
Encourage the use of modern farming techniques for better productivity.
Under the Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, a new AI-powered Smart Trap was launched to help cotton farmers. This technology helps in managing the pink bollworm pest (also called the pink caterpillar) by sending automatic alerts to farmers when their crops are affected.
During the launch, Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate highlighted another challenge faced by cotton farmers, the shortage of labourers for cotton plucking. To solve this, researchers are developing small battery-operated tractors. If successful, this technology will be introduced to the Agriculture Ministry for wider use.
The government is making the Digital Farmer ID mandatory to ensure only eligible farmers receive scheme benefits. Without this ID, farmers may miss out on PM-Kisan, crop insurance, and other support. Timely registration using Aadhaar, land records, and mobile number is essential. This step promotes transparency, reduces misuse, and ensures fair access to resources for genuine farmers across the country.
