The Haryana government has announced major relief for farmers affected by excessive rainfall and flooding during the Kharif season this year. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has released crop loss compensation worth ₹116 crore 15 lakh, which will benefit 53,821 farmers across the state. Payments have already started, and the entire amount will be transferred directly to farmers bank accounts within the next week.

Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana was also present during the announcement.

Immediate Relief for Farmers Affected by Heavy Rains

Addressing the media, Chief Minister Saini said that farmers suffered heavy losses due to floods and continuous rainfall in August and September. To provide quick support, the government decided to release compensation without delay so that farmers can recover and prepare for the next agricultural cycle.

The fund transfer process has begun immediately, ensuring timely financial support to affected farmers.

Crop-Wise Compensation Details

The compensation amount has been distributed based on crop damage. Major crops that received assistance include:

  • Millet (Bajra): ₹352.9 million

  • Cotton: ₹274.3 million

  • Paddy (Rice): ₹229.1 million

  • Guar (Cluster Bean): ₹141 million

The government stated that providing timely relief during natural disasters is a top priority so that farmers can reinvest in farming and regain financial stability.

Crop Damage Due to August–September Floods

During August and September, several districts in Haryana experienced heavy rainfall and flood-like conditions. The Chief Minister personally visited flood-affected areas and interacted with farmers to understand the extent of losses.

To ensure transparency, the e-compensation portal was opened until September 15, allowing farmers to report crop damage. Under this process:

  • Over 5.29 lakh farmers registered

  • Damage was reported on 31 lakh acres of agricultural land

  • After verification, crop damage was confirmed on 1,20,380 acres

  • Compensation was approved for 53,821 farmers

Worst-Hit Districts in Haryana

The maximum crop damage was reported in three districts:

  • Charkhi Dadri: ₹235.5 million released

  • Hisar: ₹178.2 million released

  • Bhiwani: ₹121.5 million released

In addition, ₹47.2 million has already been released to compensate for livestock loss, house damage, and loss of other essential items caused by floods.

Action Taken Against Negligence

The Chief Minister also announced strict action against officials found negligent during the verification process. Six Patwaris have been suspended for lapses in crop damage assessment.

He clearly stated that the government is accountable to every citizen and will not tolerate negligence by any officer or employee.

₹358.62 Crore Released to Millet Farmers Under Bhavantar Yojana

Along with crop loss compensation, the Haryana government has provided another big relief to millet farmers under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana.

  • Millet procurement started on September 23 in the 2025–26 Kharif season

  • Farmers are being given ₹575 per quintal as Bhavantar amount

  • ₹358 crore 62 lakh released today for 1.57 lakh millet farmers

  • Amount will be credited to farmers’ accounts soon

This year, the state procured a record 6.23 lakh metric tonnes of millet, the highest-ever in Haryana.

So far, the government has already released ₹927 crore under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana. With the latest release, the total Bhavantar compensation has reached ₹1,285 crore 62 lakh.

Strong Support for Farmers

With timely compensation, strict monitoring, and record procurement under welfare schemes, the Haryana government aims to support farmers affected by natural disasters and ensure income security. These steps are expected to help farmers recover losses and strengthen agricultural growth in the state.

The Haryana government’s timely release of crop loss compensation and Bhavantar support reflects its strong commitment to farmer welfare. By directly transferring funds, taking action against negligence, and ensuring fair prices for millet, the state has provided much-needed financial relief. These measures will help affected farmers recover from natural disasters, reinvest in agriculture, and move towards a more stable and secure farming future.
