In a major relief announcement ahead of Holi, Yogi Adityanath transferred ₹460 crore directly into the bank accounts of farmers and beneficiary families in Uttar Pradesh through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The financial support aims to strengthen farmers and provide timely assistance before the festive season.
The amount includes crop insurance compensation and accident welfare assistance, ensuring that farmers and their families receive direct financial security without any middlemen.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (Kharif-2025), compensation of ₹285 crore was distributed to 2.51 lakh farmers across the state.
The Chief Minister said that farmers affected by drought, excessive rainfall, or other natural disasters are receiving financial support under the scheme. Crop insurance plays an important role in providing security during difficult times and protects farmers from heavy losses caused by unpredictable weather conditions.
Apart from crop insurance, ₹175 crore was provided to 3,500 beneficiary families under the Chief Minister’s Farmer Accident Welfare Scheme.
The scheme now covers not only farmers but also their family members, sharecroppers, and co-farmers. In case of accidental death, the government provides financial assistance of ₹5 lakh to the affected family.
Earlier, on June 16, 2025, ₹561.86 crore had already been distributed to 11,690 farmers and their dependents under the scheme.
The entire ₹460 crore is being transferred directly into beneficiaries bank accounts through DBT. The Chief Minister highlighted that funds now reach people’s accounts instantly at the press of a button, and the role of middlemen has completely ended.
He directed all district magistrates to ensure that the money reaches the beneficiaries accounts by the next day, giving quick relief before Holi.
CM Yogi informed that the Uttar Pradesh Budget for 2026-27 has been recently passed. The budget includes several schemes for youth, women, farmers, and the poor. He assured that the double-engine government remains committed to the welfare of farmers, who play a vital role in the state's prosperity.
During the event, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for several new agricultural infrastructure projects, including:
Deputy Director of the Agriculture Offices
Soil testing laboratories in Baghpat, Shamli, Kasganj, and Bhadohi
A 50-bed dormitory building at the State Land Conservation Center in Mauranipur, Jhansi
A Smart Agriculture Bureau studio unit in Lucknow
He said the government is committed to promoting modern technology and scientific methods in farming to increase productivity and income.
To improve disaster management, the state government is expanding the Aapda Mitra program. So far, 29,772 young volunteers have been trained in 25 districts.
These volunteers have received emergency responder kits, ID cards, and certificates. The government has now decided to provide three years of life and medical insurance coverage to trained Aapda Mitras.
An agreement has been signed with National Insurance Company Limited, under which each Aapda Mitra will receive ₹5 lakh insurance coverage for three years.
For the financial year 2025–26, ₹876 crore has been allocated to the State Disaster Relief Fund. The Chief Minister said the government aims to ensure that people affected by floods, lightning, or other disasters receive relief funds within 24 hours.
Hundreds of crores have already been distributed to thousands of people affected by crop damage, loss of life, and house damage.
The Chief Minister also announced that disaster volunteers will be given priority in the recruitment of 45,000 home guards in the state. At present, they provide voluntary service, but once selected as home guards, they will receive an honorarium.
Additionally, Doppler weather radars will be installed in Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, and Azamgarh to strengthen weather forecasting and disaster management systems in Uttar Pradesh.
Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi and several public representatives and officials were present at the event.
