Focus on organic and natural farming.
Market monitoring for timely payments.
The Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana (Price Difference Payment Scheme) for soybean farmers in Madhya Pradesh is becoming a major support system for the farming community. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav recently announced that more than 1.50 lakh farmers have already registered under the scheme. This initiative aims to ensure that farmers receive fair prices for their crops and are protected from potential market losses.
The Bhavantar Yojana is designed to help soybean farmers when market prices fall below the Minimum Support Price (MSP). The government will compensate the difference between the MSP and the market price, ensuring farmers do not face losses.
According to official data, over 61,970 soybean farmers have already completed registration, and the process will continue until October 17, 2025. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav confirmed that if soybean prices drop, the state government will cover the loss through Bhavantar payments.
CM Yadav also shared that the state’s new agriculture policy is focusing on natural and organic farming. He mentioned that farmers can earn better income even on smaller land areas by growing horticultural crops.
District collectors have been instructed to motivate at least 100 farmers in each district to adopt organic farming practices. The government will also ensure proper market arrangements for the sale of organic produce.
The Chief Minister encouraged farmers to explore horticulture, dairy production, and fisheries, along with traditional farming. He also highlighted the scientific use of fertilizers and resources to increase productivity and maintain soil health.
To make sure that farmers get the full benefit of the Bhavantar Yojana, CM Yadav directed officials to strictly monitor soybean auctions in the markets. He emphasized that farmers should receive their payments promptly and transparently.
Agriculture Production Commissioner Ashok Varnwal mentioned that the state will promote crop residue management, clean markets, and use of advanced machines like Happy Seeder. All departments have been instructed to complete processes on time to prevent any payment delays.
During the Collectors-Commissioners Conference 2025, the Chief Minister highlighted the need to develop rural youth into agricultural entrepreneurs. He said that every district should promote millets and horticultural crops for better income opportunities.
He also appreciated rose cultivation in Guna district and suggested expanding such initiatives to other regions, especially in religious cities. The CM stressed on strict monitoring to prevent stubble burning and promote alternative management practices.
The government plans to boost fisheries, dairy, and cage culture as part of its income diversification strategy. CM Yadav said that the sale of these products will be facilitated through fairs and weekly markets.
District collectors have been instructed to maintain records of natural farming projects, evaluate their benefits, and share success stories widely among farmers. Awareness about schemes and new equipment will be spread through village-level farmer seminars.
Officials from various departments, including Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, and Cooperatives, presented their progress during the session. Collectors from different districts highlighted their special projects:
Guna: Rose Cluster Development
Harda: Organic Farming Promotion
Shajapur: Token System for Fertilizer Distribution
Sheopur: Crop Residue Management Initiatives
Khandwa: Successful Cow Shelter Program
The Bhavantar Yojana has emerged as a reliable support system for soybean farmers in Madhya Pradesh, helping them secure MSP benefits and avoid financial losses. Alongside this, the state government’s focus on organic farming, horticulture, fisheries, and dairy is paving the way for higher farmer income and sustainable agricultural growth.
This combined approach of price support and income diversification marks an important step toward empowering farmers and building a strong rural economy in Madhya Pradesh.
