₹113 crore transferred via DBT.
2.20 lakh farmers benefited.
Initially covered 13 districts.
Now applicable in all 38 districts.
Support for seeds, fertilizers, and inputs.
In a major relief step for flood-affected farmers, the Government of Bihar has transferred ₹113.16 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than 2.20 lakh farmers under the Agricultural Input Subsidy Scheme. The amount was sent through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system to ensure transparency and timely support.
This move aims to help farmers recover from crop losses caused by floods and prepare for the upcoming sowing season without financial stress.
The financial assistance was transferred remotely by Nitish Kumar from the Sankalp Sabhagar in Patna. While addressing the event, he said that supporting flood-affected farmers is the government’s top priority.
He added that this financial aid will help farmers purchase quality seeds, fertilizers, and other inputs for the next crop cycle. The use of the DBT system ensures that the money reaches farmers directly in their bank accounts without any middlemen, maintaining full transparency.
In 2025, heavy rains, floods, and storms caused severe crop damage across several parts of Bihar. Farmers in 13 districts suffered major agricultural losses. These districts include:
Begusarai
Bhojpur
Darbhanga
Gaya
Kaimur
Kishanganj
Madhepura
Madhubani
Muzaffarpur
East Champaran
Shivhar
Sitamarhi
Supaul
A total of 53 blocks and 493 panchayats in these districts were directly affected by the natural disaster.
The Agriculture Department invited online applications from affected farmers. After proper verification of details, the approved subsidy amount was directly transferred to their bank accounts. This ensured quick relief and helped farmers start preparations for the next cropping season without delay.
Although funds were initially released in 13 districts, the scheme is now applicable across all 38 districts of Bihar.
The Chief Minister clarified that complete arrangements have been made to provide timely assistance to farmers throughout the state whenever natural disasters occur. Through DBT, subsidy amounts are deposited directly into farmers’ accounts, improving efficiency and preventing misuse.
The state government believes that timely financial support and access to quality agricultural inputs will not only increase farmers income but also strengthen overall agricultural production in Bihar.
The Agricultural Input Subsidy Scheme is designed to provide financial relief to farmers affected by natural disasters such as:
Floods
Unseasonal rains
Hailstorms
Storms
Under this scheme, eligible farmers receive financial assistance to buy essential agricultural inputs like:
Seeds
Fertilizers
Pesticides
Other crop-related materials
The main objective is to reduce the burden of crop loss and help farmers restart farming activities without facing financial hardship.
This scheme offers immediate compensation to farmers who suffer crop damage. It ensures that they do not face delays in preparing for the next season.
With the subsidy amount, farmers can purchase high-quality seeds and fertilizers, which can improve crop yield and productivity. It also protects farmers from falling into debt during difficult times caused by natural disasters.
The Bihar government has emphasized that its efforts go beyond financial support. Along with monetary assistance, farmers are also being provided with timely technical and agricultural guidance.
According to the Chief Minister, the goal is to empower farmers, stabilize their incomes, and maintain agricultural growth even during challenging times. By ensuring quick relief and transparent fund transfer, the state aims to protect both farmers’ economic well-being and overall crop production.
In the coming years, the government plans to expand such initiatives further so that relief and support reach every farmer in need across Bihar.
This large-scale DBT transfer of ₹113 crore marks a significant step toward strengthening Bihar’s agricultural sector and providing much-needed security to farmers affected by natural calamities.
The Agricultural Input Subsidy Scheme has brought major relief to over 2 lakh flood-affected farmers in Bihar. With ₹113 crore transferred directly through DBT, the government has ensured timely and transparent financial support. The scheme not only helps farmers recover from crop losses but also supports preparations for upcoming seasons. By expanding coverage to all 38 districts, Bihar has strengthened its commitment to farmer welfare and agricultural stability.
