Volvo Trucks was the first global manufacturer to begin serial production of heavy-duty electric trucks in 2019, and the company has a diverse electric lineup of six electric heavy trucks.

With its battery-electric vehicle portfolio, Volvo Trucks is expanding into new areas. Swift Haulage Berhad in Malaysia is the most recent example, having purchased two Volvo FM Electric trucks.
Malaysia has a national plan to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, and electrifying road transportation is one crucial step toward that goal. This strategic initiative marks a significant step in the country's efforts to reduce carbon emissions and enhance its eco-friendly transportation infrastructure.
These vehicles boast cutting-edge battery technology, providing substantial mileage on a single charge and demonstrating Volvo's commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric mobility.

"I'm happy to announce that we are now selling heavy electric trucks in Malaysia. With a 21% share of the heavy truck market, we have a significant role to play in lowering CO2 emissions in the transportation sector. Our trucks will help to decrease climate effects while also improving road safety and providing a better working environment for drivers. We are honoured to be collaborating with Swift Haulage Berhad, Malaysia's early users of electric vehicles," says Anthony O'Connell, Managing Director for Volvo Vehicles in Malaysia.

Swift Haulage Berhad Group's Chief Executive Officer, Loo Yong Hui, agrees. "For Swift, sustainability has always been a top priority. I am pleased to announce that Swift will be Malaysia's first haulage company to acquire and integrate electric trucks into our fleet. We believe that this technology will transform the industry, and we are delighted to pave the path for a brighter, more efficient, and greener future. In the future, we intend to convert the bulk of our fleet to EVs by 2030."
As Malaysia continues to embrace sustainable development goals, Volvo Trucks' foray into the electric truck market demonstrates the potential for meaningful change within the transportation sector. With this innovative leap, the nation takes a giant stride toward a cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable future.
