The Augmented Reality safety app is designed to transmit instant, useful information from the electric vehicle to the arriving emergency services team, guiding them in real-time and ensuring safe rescue conditions.

Volvo Group has launched Augmented Reality (AR) safety app for electrified trucks. Volvo becomes the first truck manufacturer to offer this type of application.
It is specifically designed to assist first responders in an emergency. The app is designed to transmit instant, useful information from the electric vehicle to the arriving emergency services team, guiding them in real time and ensuring safe rescue conditions.
Electric trucks will change the world, not only by making transportation more environmentally friendly but also by altering how we drive and interact with vehicles. The technology involved, notably the high-voltage systems capable of powering a big electric vehicle, is also altering the perception of emergency response, necessitating the development of new safety norms and routines.
The safety software may provide first responders with a detailed image of the electric truck by combining connectivity, camera, sensors, 3D modelling, and augmented reality overlays. It provides information on the placement of high-voltage cables, battery packs, and other critical components, as well as step-by-step directions on how to safely shut off the power supply of an electric vehicle in the event of an emergency.
The app will have all documentation for the electric vehicle. Once the truck is spotted, the app user will have access to all documentation for the electric vehicle.
The augmented reality safety application app was created by a team of professionals at Volvo Group's R&D sites in Sweden, France, and the United States.
"The safety software has been tested in a number of real-world settings. This app's users had given it positive feedback.," said Vincent Barnoux, Volvo Group's AR Expert & Business Solution Engineer.
Volvo Group's overall goal is to deliver products that are completely safe. The Emergency Response Guide app is currently free to download from the Android and Apple stores, according to the firms.
The Volvo Group has a long history of safety innovations and provides a wide range of commercial electric solutions. The company is dedicated to promoting the safe and responsible use of electric vehicles, and the development of this app is just one example of the company's ongoing efforts in this area.
