Ashok Leyland is also collaborating with partners to build the infrastructure required for these vehicles, such as charging and refuelling stations. According to the automaker, the new energy portfolio is part of a larger effort to reduce its environmental effect and become a leader in the sustainable mobility sector.
Ashok Leyland, based in Chennai, announced that its new energy portfolio, which comprises CNG, LNG, hydrogen ICE, hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric vehicles, and six battery electric vehicles, will be finished within the next few years.
In its most recent investor report, the business stated that it is heavily investing in research and development for new energy technologies, which it has been working on for the past eight years, and that it has already built prototypes for several of these vehicles.
It is also collaborating with partners to build the infrastructure required for these vehicles, such as charging and refuelling stations. According to the automaker, the new energy portfolio is part of a larger effort to reduce its environmental effect and become a leader in the sustainable mobility sector.
Furthering its development, the business stated that it is still working on CNG, LNG, H2-ICE, and H2FC variants for its M&HCV and long-haul vehicles.
Second, the focus for the ICV trucks, which include the E-Comet and Boss, remains on expanding it to H2-ICE and BEV-powered vehicles.

Similarly, in the LCV goods sectors, which include models like Dost, Bada Dost, and Partner, the business is producing CNG and BEV-powered vehicles.
Similarly, Ashok Leyland is focusing on bringing LNG, H2-ICE, and H2FC into the MCV bus category. CNG and BEV variants are already on the market. However, for long-distance coaches, the corporation is anticipated to introduce CNG, LNG, H2-ICE, and H2FC.
Furthermore, the business intends to introduce H2-ICE, H2FC, and BEV in the ICV bus category. The CNG variant is already on the market. However, the objective is to expand it to include BEVs for LCV passengers as well.
The business is currently developing six BEVs, including 12-meter, 7-meter, 5-meter, and new 9-meter e-buses, as well as two e-LCVs.
Furthermore, the investor presentation stated that it will expand into West Africa and South Africa, increasing its presence to 38 countries by the end of FY23 from 28 countries in FY21.
The announcement comes after the Hinduja Group's flagship company unveiled a slew of products at the Auto Expo 2023 in Delhi earlier this year, including a battery electric vehicle, a fuel cell electric vehicle, a hydrogen internal combustion engine (ICE), an LNG vehicle, an intercity CNG bus, and a mini passenger bus. FCEV, H2-ICE, and LNG are constructed on the AVTR Modular Vehicle Platform and contain the bulk of the sub-aggregates from currently operating diesel-powered vehicles.
