Tata Motors, India's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, stated that it will apply a price hike of up to 5% on its commercial vehicles beginning April 1st, 2023. Tata Motors increased prices by 1.02% to Rs 416.60. The price rise will be applied to the whole commercial vehicle line. The exact amount will depend on the model and variant.

Tata Motors, a subsidiary of the Tata Group, is a multinational automaker that produces cars, utility vehicles, pickup trucks, and buses.

According to the automaker, the decision to raise costs is the result of the company's attempts to comply with the more stringent BS6 phase II emission requirements.

Customers and fleet owners should expect a selection of cleaner, greener, and technologically superior solutions that bring higher benefits and lower total cost of ownership as the company converts its whole vehicle portfolio to meet these criteria.

The company claim that the decision to raise pricing is the outcome of the company's attempts to comply with pollution standards.

This is the company's fourth pricing increase for commercial vehicles in fiscal year 23. It increased commercial vehicle prices by 2% in January. It raised the pricing of its commercial vehicles by 2-2.5 per cent in April 2022, and again by 1.5-2.5 per cent in July.

Vehicles have to meet the defined emission criteria in laboratories when the first phase of BS6 was implemented in 2020. Vehicles must now cope with real-world emission standards as the second phase is implemented. To accomplish this, automakers will need to equip engines with an inbuilt self-diagnostic system that will analyze driving behaviour and traffic conditions in real-time.

In Q3 FY23, the firm reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 2,957.71 crore, compared to a net loss of Rs 1,516.14 crore in Q3 FY22. During the quarter, total revenue from operations climbed by 22.5% year on year to Rs 88,488.59 crore.
