Tata Motors, India’s leading multinational automobile manufacturer, has introduced its Ultra range of smart trucks in South Africa. These trucks are designed to fulfil the rising need for safer, smarter, and greener cargo mobility.

The Ultra range includes two models: Ultra T.9 (powered by a 3.3L engine) and Ultra T.14 (powered by a 5.0L engine). Let’s delve into the details:

Ultra T.9

  • Engine: Powered by a 3.3L turbocharged diesel engine.
  • Purpose: Provides a reliable solution for comfortably carrying heavy loads over long distances and rough terrains.
  • Features: Equipped with a walk-through cabin, power steering, dashboard-mounted gear lever, booster-assisted clutch, and a mechanically suspended seat for safe and fatigue-free driving.
  • Connectivity: Ultra T.9 truck comes with Tata Motors’ flagship connected vehicle system, Fleet Edge, for efficient fleet management.
  • Safety: Features an Antilock Braking System (ABS) for enhanced safety.
  • Warranty: Offers a 5-year/500,000 km warranty.
  • Driving Modes: Includes Power and Eco modes.

Ultra T.14

  • Engine: Powered by a robust 5.0L turbocharged diesel engine.
  • Versatility: Suited for a wide variety of applications, including bakery, FMCG, white goods, agriculture, and construction.
  • Suspension: It is equipped with parabolic suspension for rugged and uninterrupted operations.
  • Fleet Management: Utilizes the Fleet Edge system for efficient fleet productivity.
  • Comfort: Features a walk-through cabin and front parabolic suspension for a comfortable ride and handling.

Anurag Mehrotra, Head of International Business at Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, expressed, “The launch of the latest Ultra range in South Africa marks a new landmark in freight transportation in the country. Built on the internationally recognized Ultra platform, these new trucks are engineered to cater to a diverse set of applications, deliver higher performance, vehicle utilization, uptime, and more revenues.”
