  • 181 EVs from 18 manufacturers.

  • Focus on electric three-wheelers.

  • Showcased electric buses and trucks.

  • Delhi targets 100% EV by 2026.

  • Government and SIAM push for EV adoption.

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) successfully organized its third Green Plate EV Rally at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, bringing together 181 electric vehicles from 18 leading manufacturers. This unique event was held under the theme “Boosting Customer Confidence in Automotive Electrification” and was supported by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India.

181 Electric Vehicles Showcased

The rally saw a massive participation of electric two-wheelers, cars, three-wheelers, trucks, and buses. Leaders, ministers, and industry experts joined the event to encourage the public and promote the future of green and clean mobility in India.

Focus on Electric Three-Wheelers

A major highlight of the rally was the wide display of electric three-wheelers. These vehicles are gaining popularity as affordable, eco-friendly solutions for last-mile delivery, urban commuting, and small-scale business operations. Many manufacturers showcased their latest e-rickshaws and electric cargo three-wheelers that not only cut running costs but also help reduce pollution in busy city areas.

Electric Trucks and Buses Take Center Stage

The event also gave significant attention to electric trucks and electric buses, demonstrating their potential for public transport and logistics. The sight of large buses and heavy-duty trucks running silently without emissions showcased how EV technology is moving beyond personal mobility and entering large-scale commercial operations. Electric buses are already becoming common in Delhi’s public transport network, and electric trucks are being tested for goods movement and logistics.

Delhi Targets 100% EV Adoption by 2026

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagged off the rally and announced an ambitious goal of making Delhi’s transportation system 100% electric by 2026. She encouraged citizens to switch to electric vehicles and invited manufacturers to collaborate with the government.

Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa emphasized that EV adoption is key to meeting India’s climate and sustainability goals. SIAM Executive Director Prashant K Banerjee added that electric vehicles are not just the future but the foundation of a sustainable India and praised government policies and infrastructure projects that are helping boost customer confidence.

Moving Towards a Greener Future

The event concluded with a panel discussion featuring representatives from government bodies, NITI Aayog, Delhi Police, and SIAM. The discussions focused on policy support, infrastructure development, and ways to accelerate EV adoption across India.

This rally demonstrated that electric mobility is no longer limited to small vehicles but is now making its way into every segment, from two-wheelers to buses and trucks, creating a path toward a cleaner, greener future for Delhi and India.
