The Madhya Pradesh government has given a significant boost to unorganized sector workers by transferring Rs 225 crore to 10,236 labour families under the Chief Minister Jan-Kalyan (Sambal) Scheme. This assistance aims to support worker’s families during emergencies, offering financial relief in challenging times.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav made the announcement during a program held in Bhopal, where the amount was digitally transferred to beneficiaries bank accounts. Highlighting the importance of the scheme, he said, “The Sambal Yojana stands by the workers in times of difficulty. This amount serves as a message of solidarity from the government, ensuring the families of affected workers are supported in their grief.”

About the Sambal Yojana

Launched in 2018, the Sambal Yojana provides financial aid to labour families in the unorganized sector. It offers multiple benefits, including:

  • Accidental Death: Rs 4 lakh
  • Natural Death: Rs 2 lakh
  • Permanent Disability: Rs 2 lakh
  • Partial Disability: Rs 1 lakh
  • Funeral Assistance: Rs 5,000
  • Maternity Assistance: Rs 16,000 for women workers
  • Educational Aid: Free education for worker’s children under the Shiksha Protsahan Yojana.

Since its inception, the scheme has disbursed Rs 5,626 crore to over 6.16 lakh beneficiaries, making it one of the largest social welfare programs in the state.

Highlights of the Recent Fund Transfer

  • Rs 225 crore was distributed to 10,236 families.
  • The financial aid was provided under the Anugrah Sahayata Yojana, which helps families during bereavement or disability.
  • The program included a virtual interaction between Chief Minister Dr. Yadav and beneficiaries, reinforcing the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable families.

Sambal Yojana 2.0: Expansion Plans

The updated Sambal Yojana 2.0 now includes more categories of workers, such as:

  • Stone breakers
  • Brickmakers
  • Cooks
  • Household workers
  • Tendu leaf collectors

From March 2024, these workers will be eligible for benefits, ensuring broader coverage for unorganized sector laborers. As of now, over 1.73 crore workers are registered under the scheme.

Eligibility Criteria for Sambal 2.0

To avail of the benefits, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Possess a Samagra ID and Family ID.
  2. Should not be covered under Provident Fund, ESI, or other social security schemes.
  3. Landholding must not exceed one hectare.
  4. No family member should be in government service or pay income tax.

How to Register

Workers can register online by following these steps:

  1. Visit the official website of the scheme.
  2. Click on “Apply for Registration” under the “Services” section.
  3. Enter your Samagra ID and Family ID.
  4. Fill in the required details like Aadhaar number, bank account information, and consent.
  5. Submit the application.

For those without a Samagra ID, it can be generated through the Samagra Portal of the Madhya Pradesh government.
