Why Was This Scheme Introduced?

While the central government’s PM Kisan Yojana provides Rs 6,000 per year to eligible landholder farmers, landless farmers are left out. Recognizing this gap, the state government decided to introduce this scheme, providing direct financial aid to the most vulnerable agricultural workers.

Who Will Benefit?

The scheme will benefit over 5.62 lakh landless farmers in the state, including:

  • Agricultural laborers without farmland.
  • Families involved in forest produce collection.
  • Shepherds, carpenters, blacksmiths, cobblers, and washermen.
  • Traditional service providers under the Pauni-Pasari system.
  • Tribal temple priests and other tribal communities like Baiga, Gunia, and Manjhi families.

Funds Allocated

A budget of Rs 562 crore has been earmarked for this initiative, ensuring that the financial assistance reaches all eligible families.

How to Avail the Benefits

Under the scheme, the annual assistance of Rs 10,000 will be directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts. Eligible farmers can apply through their local government offices or online portals to enroll in the program.

On the launch day, the Chief Minister distributed cheques of Rs 10,000 to several beneficiaries, highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting landless farmers.

Bonus for Paddy Farmers in February

In another farmer-friendly move, the state government has announced a bonus of Rs 800 per quintal on paddy purchased from farmers under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme.

  • MSP for 2025: The Central Government has set the MSP for paddy at Rs 2,300 per quintal.
  • State Bonus: Farmers in the state will receive an additional Rs 800 per quintal, bringing their total payment to Rs 3,100 per quintal.
  • Payment Timeline: The difference amount will be transferred to farmer’s bank accounts in February 2025.

This decision will benefit around 27 lakh farmers and boost the rural economy by ensuring fair compensation for their produce.
