Harish had enough agricultural land but was not satisfied with the income from traditional farming. His journey toward success began when he attended a training camp organized by the Rajasthan State Medicinal Plant Board. There, he learned about modern and profitable farming techniques.
During the training, Harish discovered that most gardeners have difficulty getting good-quality nursery plants. He saw this as an opportunity and decided to start his own nursery business.
Harish started his journey with a lemon nursery. Today, he prepares lakhs of lemon plants and other fruit plant varieties like kinnu, date palm, malta, ijjafa, Thai apple, plum, and guava. He says that planting 4–5-year-old nursery plants helps in getting fruits earlier, which benefits the farmers.
To make his nursery more advanced, Harish purchased a modern machine from Israel. This machine manages water, fertilizer, and the growing environment automatically. It also controls the pH and EC levels of water, saving both water and fertilizer. The computer system in the machine ensures that each plant receives the right amount of nutrients and care. This high-tech system has improved the plant quality and increased the yield.
Over the last 15 years, Harish has changed the face of his farms. Along with running a nursery, he is now also involved in medicinal farming, organic farming, and gardening. His hard work and modern thinking have earned him several national and state-level awards.
Harish now earns around ₹5 lakh every month. He believes that farmers can earn good profits by using the benefits of government schemes. Schemes related to fencing, drip irrigation, pipeline laying, and farm pond construction can help farmers improve their income.
Harish’s success has made him an inspiration for many farmers in the region. Many now visit him for advice and guidance on how to run a successful nursery or adopt modern farming practices. He continues to motivate others by proving that farming, when done smartly, can be a profitable business.
