Olectra will launch its first electric tipper In March 2023.

Electric trucks would be a game changer in the segment as the cost of fossil fuels skyrocketed. Surprisingly, the Indian tipper truck market is expected to be worth $3.10 billion by 2024.

The first electric tipper from Olectra will be available in March 2023. This will also be the OEM's first foray into the Indian tipper market. With the introduction of this electric tipper, the company intends to target the mining sector logistics, as a mining tipper typically travels 70 to 110 kilometres per day. The current version of the Olectra electric tipper has a range of 150 km per charge and can be fully charged in two hours using a DC charger.

Electric trucks would be a game changer in the segment. Electric truck sales have increased since the introduction of lithium-ion batteries. The government is also focusing on electric trucks to reduce air pollution. Electric vehicles have high efficiency and are expected to have lower operating costs. Electric trucks are currently in the spotlight. The tipper truck market is expected to be worth $3.10 billion in India by 2024. The organisation already started the testing of the tipper in various geographic conditions throughout the country.

The source, who declined to provide numbers, also stated that the company has received pre-orders for the electric tipper and will reveal them during the launch. Notably, some of these are already in use at Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) construction sites. Olectra's parent company is MEIL. This will help to grow the tippers market in India.

• The electric tipper has a capacity of 28 tons.
• This tipper comes in 6x4 axle configurations.
• It has overall dimensions of 8250 x 2550 x 3500 MM in length, width, and height.
• The wheelbase of the model is 4975 MM.
• It is outfitted with a powerful battery rated at 270 kW (362 HP) and with a maximum torque of 2400 NM.
• It will be available in 16 and 19-cubic-metre load body sizes.

The primary benefit is the low operational and maintenance costs. Furthermore, the individual explained that an ICE tipper consumes the majority of the oxygen inside a mine when it enters it, so the workforce must be evacuated when the vehicle enters the zone. However, there is no need for oxygen in the case of this electric tipper. As a result, operations are continuous.
