Tata Motors, India's commercial vehicle market leader, reported a wholesale of 27,430 units in the domestic market, a 3% decrease from November 2021.
M&HCV sales increased by 42% to 8,879 units, while I&LCV sales decreased by 32% to 3,462 units. The largest category in terms of volume, small commercial vehicles and pickups, reported a 17% drop to 13,048 units. Tata Motors exported over 1,623 units to foreign markets in the month, a 59% decrease.
Total sales included commercial vehicle sales of 29,053 units, a 10% decrease year on year. Total domestic sales in November 2022 were 73,467 units, up 27% from 58,073 units sold in November 2021. Domestic sales included 46,037 passenger vehicles (including EVs) and 27,430 commercial vehicles.
Ashok Leyland, one of India's largest CV manufacturers, has released truck sales figures for November. Ashok Leyland has delivered a strong performance as demand for its trucks and buses remains strong.
In the truck sales figure for 2022, the brand increased by 35.28%. The company's truck sales in India remained strong, increasing by 43.19%, while its export sales fell by -69.76%. In India, the brand sold a total of 13,654 units in the domestic market, registering a solid 46% growth, including 8,685 units of heavy and medium trucks, buses, and 4,969 units of light trucks. In terms of category sales, the M&HCV sector has 7,727 units, representing an 86% increase over the 4,163 units sold in the same month last year. In addition, they have sold 4,969 LCV units, a 6% increase over the previous year's total of 4,703 units.

In November, Mahindra and Mahindra, one of India's leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, reported a strong sales volume. According to the company's announcement, all segments of commercial vehicles have experienced double-digit growth, indicating a strong market demand for trucks. Mahindra's light truck segment (2-3.5-tonne GVW) sold 16,2193 units in November 2022, up 34%, followed by light trucks (above 2-tonne GVW) that sold 2,643 units, up 10%. The sales volume of light, medium, and heavy trucks increased by 45% to 755 units. While three-wheelers (including the rapidly growing electric vehicle) sold 5,198 units, a 103% increase.
VE Commercial Vehicles, which sells Eicher and Volvo branded trucks and buses, sold 4,903 units in November 2022, a 20% increase from 4085 units in November 2021. This includes 4720 Eicher brand vehicles and 183 Volvo brand vehicles.
Eicher branded trucks and buses sold 4720 units in November 2022, up from 3967 units in November 2021, representing a 19.0% increase. In the domestic CV market, Eicher branded trucks and buses sold 4,483 units in November 2022, up from 3,184 units in November 2021, representing a 40.8% increase.
As a result, total brand export fell by 79.97%, with the company selling 147 units versus 734 units in November 2021. The total VECV truck sales report for November 2022 showed an 11.27% increase, with the company selling 4,175 vehicles compared to 3,752 units in the same month last year.
