Movin Express, a joint venture between UPS and InterGlobe Enterprises, intends to enter India's expanding automotive logistics market with an electric vehicle fleet.

The company has already conducted a successful pilot program using electric vehicles for last-mile delivery in Delhi, NCR. In the near future, the B2B logistics firm aims to add 25 more electric vehicles to its fleet and spread the initiative to other cities.

In the last 8-9 months, the company has created eight major ground hubs across the country, in addition to its current air hubs. By the end of the year, the company intends to add three more ground hubs, one of which will be located in Central India and serve as a sort of nucleus for all of its operations.

The automotive industry is a major driver of the global logistics market and the Indian logistics business, which is now worth approximately US$ 15 billion and is predicted to increase at a CAGR of 10-12% over the next few years.

The Indian logistics business is expected to grow due to an increase in e-commerce, infrastructure development, and the growing importance of supply chain management.

While India's logistics industry has been a source of growth in recent years, the high prices, which amount to roughly 13-14% of the national GDP, have been a detriment. like comparison, several mature markets like the United States and Europe have substantially lower logistic costs of roughly 8% of GDP, which India now expects to approach in the near future.

The move comes at a time when India is actively promoting electric mobility to combat air pollution and climate change. The government's push towards EV adoption, coupled with an increasing awareness of environmental issues among consumers, creates a favourable environment for Movin Express' electric fleet to thrive.

Industry experts are already hailing this development as a game-changer. With the potential to reshape the landscape of automotive logistics in India, Movin Express is poised to inspire other players in the industry to follow suit and transition towards greener practices.

As the company's EVs hit the Indian roads, all eyes are on Movin Express to witness the positive impact it will have on the environment, operational efficiency, and the overall logistics sector. The innovative strides taken by Movin Express are a testament to the fact that sustainability and business growth can indeed go hand in hand.
