The millet fair in Shivamogga is expected to attract visitors from across the district, showcase a wide range of millet-based products and provide a platform for farmers, entrepreneurs and consumers.

To promote healthy living and sustainable agriculture, the Shivamogga district administration is set to host a Millet Fair, also known as Siridhanya Mela, at the Kuvempu Ranga Mandira grounds in Shivamogga City on December 27. The initiative has started to raise awareness about the many benefits of including millets in your diet.
To ensure the success of the event, Shivamogga's Deputy Commissioner, R. Selvamani, chaired a meeting with officials to plan and organise the fair. The Millet Fair is expected to attract visitors from across the district, showcasing a wide array of millet-based products and providing a platform for farmers, entrepreneurs, and consumers to engage in discussions about the significance of millet in a balanced diet.
To kickstart the momentum leading up to the fair, a walkathon named 'Siridhanya Nadige' is organised. The walkathon will commence from Nehru Stadium at 6:30 a.m., featuring active participation from various stakeholders, including government officials, students, and representatives from different organizations.
The route of the walkathon covers prominent streets such as Mahaveera Circle, Gopi Circle, Jail Circle, and S.M. Circle, symbolizing a collective stride towards embracing healthier dietary choices.
The Millet Fair is not just a celebration of a diverse range of millet products but also an opportunity to educate the community about the nutritional benefits and ecological sustainability associated with millet cultivation.

The Shivamogga City Corporation has been responsible for actively marketing the event to spread maximum awareness of it. Shivamogga Zila Panchayat CEO Snehal Sudhakar Lokhande, Agriculture Department Joint Director G.C. Pornima, and other officials attended the meeting to discuss the plans.
The Millet Fair is set to be a vibrant and informative event, with interactive discussions, food demos, and vendors displaying a variety of millet-based items. The organizers believe that the fair will encourage a shift toward healthy eating habits and contribute to the community's general well-being.
