Which Farmers Are Eligible for a Loan Waiver of Up to ₹2 Lakh?

Under the scheme, crop loans disbursed between April 1, 2019, and March 31, 2025, are eligible for consideration if they were outstanding as of September 30, 2025, and remained unpaid by March 31, 2026.

Restructured loans are also covered, subject to the scheme's prescribed rules and eligibility conditions.

However, inclusion in the list does not automatically guarantee that the loan waiver amount will be credited. Farmers must complete the required verification and authentication process before receiving the benefit.

How to Complete the Maharashtra Loan Waiver Process

Farmers included in the third list must complete the necessary formalities to receive the loan waiver benefit.

The process involves the following steps:

  1. Check the beneficiary list: Confirm whether your name is included in the third list of the scheme.

  2. Verify outstanding loan details: Visit the nearest Aaple Seva Kendra and get your eligible outstanding loan amount verified.

  3. Complete Aadhaar authentication: Finish the prescribed Aadhaar authentication process.

  4. Complete eligibility checks: Ensure that all required formalities and verification procedures have been completed.

  5. Receive the benefit: After successful verification, the eligible loan waiver amount will be credited to your loan account according to the scheme's rules.

The government has advised farmers to complete these steps promptly. The exact date of credit will depend on the completion of verification and other required procedures.

Maharashtra Loan Waiver Scheme: First, Second and Third Lists

What About Farmers With Outstanding Loans Above ₹2 Lakh?

The Maharashtra government has also addressed cases involving farmers whose outstanding loans from nationalised and commercial banks exceed ₹2 lakh.

Cooperation Minister Babasaheb Patil said that the loans of such farmers would also be fully settled under the government's haircut policy, subject to the applicable rules and regulations.

This provision is intended to address qualifying cases in which the outstanding loan amount exceeds the standard ₹2 lakh waiver limit. The final settlement will be carried out according to the prescribed conditions.

Special Provisions for Elderly and Deceased Farmers

To make the implementation process easier, the Maharashtra government issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on August 19, 2026.

The SOP includes provisions for extending the scheme's benefits to deceased farmers, elderly farmers and those who are unable to provide fingerprints for biometric authentication.

These provisions are intended to address authentication difficulties and other practical challenges that eligible farmers or their families may face while completing the process. The cases will be handled according to the procedures specified by the government.
