Kubota, the renowned Japanese tractor manufacturer, has taken a significant leap in agricultural technology by introducing the AgriRobo M5002. This enhanced version of their autonomous AgriRobo was recently showcased at Agritechnica 2023 in Hanover, Germany.
At present, it will be available for purchase in Japan only. This is due to the Japanese market's clear restrictions regarding autonomous driving. Kubota declares its willingness to bring the self-driving tractor to the European market once regulatory requirements are in place.
GPS Steering: The AgriRobo M5002 has precise GPS navigation, allowing it to follow predefined paths with remarkable accuracy. This feature ensures efficient and consistent field operations, minimizing human intervention.
Obstacle Detection: Kubota’s engineers have integrated advanced obstacle detection sensors into the AgriRobo M5002. These sensors enable the robot to detect and avoid obstacles such as rocks, trees, and other machinery, enhancing safety and preventing collisions.
Autonomous Operation: The AgriRobo M5002 can operate autonomously, which will save farmers time and labour. Whether ploughing, seeding, or harvesting, this robot handles tasks efficiently, even during long working days.

Farmers can use the AgriRobo M5002 in a variety of ways. They can choose between manual control, remote control operation, full autonomy, or the master-slave principle, in which one tractor is manually handled while another follows suit automatically.
The M5002's specially developed CVT for tractors with power ranging from 80 to 110 hp sets it apart, allowing seamless acceleration from a standstill to working speed without requiring human intervention.
