JK Lakshmi cement deploys the first batch of ten trucks at Rajasthan's Sirohi Cement plant. These trucks were designed and conceptualized with Indian road conditions and climate requirements. It is the most immediate solution to pollution caused by heavy-duty trucks. Many other companies were taken a number of steps to cut both direct and indirect carbon emissions. Deployment of these LNG trucks is a step toward sustainable transportation. LNG is an excellent green alternative to fossil fuels.
Blue Energy, a Pune-based company that launched the LNG truck a few months ago, has made headlines again after signing a deal with JK Lakshmi Cements. The brand has delivered the first batch of LNG trucks to one of our country's leading manufacturers for long-distance transportation. Furthermore, with this transaction, JK Lakshmi became the first company to use LNG trucks in its operations. Ten trucks were flagged off from the Sirohi cement plant to the Surat clinker grinding unit in the first phase. According to the company, the number of trucks will be increased in the future.
"Sustainability should no longer be a choice, but a mandatory way of life," said Blue Energy CEO Anirudh Bhuwalka in a statement.
"Our country is aiming to reduce the carbon intensity by less than 45% by the end of the decade and the target is to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2070," said Mr Arun Shukla, President & Director of JK Lakshmi.
Blue Energy made its debut with the BE5528 tractor, the first LNG-fueled truck. It is designed and built to provide a better Total Operating Cost (TCO) with next-generation telematics and an improved interface. FPT Industrial, an Italian truck manufacturer Iveco division, signed a contract earlier this year to supply LNG-powered engines. As a result, the first LNG-fueled truck rolled out of the Pune manufacturing unit. Mr Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, inaugurated the entire facility.
It has a 990-litre fuel tank and a range of 1400 kilometres. The truck is powered by a 6.7-litre engine that produces 280 HP and 1000 NM of torque. The truck is suitable for all long-distance transportation. Furthermore, the engine produces less noise and has the highest mileage in this segment. As a result, this truck will be an important part of the future network system by making long haulage easier. In addition, the company intends to produce 10,000 trucks per year.
