The Agriculture Fair hosted by IIVR was a showcase of advanced technology and valuable insights for farmers. Farmers enthusiastically attended technical sessions, interacted with experts, and visited various stalls displaying innovative solutions. Dr. Tushar Kanti Behera, the Director of IIVR, reiterated the institute's commitment to empowering farmers through ongoing research and outreach initiatives.
The fair offered enlightening sessions on a variety of topics. Dr US Gautam, Deputy Director General of Krishi Prasar, ICAR, underscored the importance of connecting research and practice. He praised the fair's role in delivering crucial knowledge directly to farmers and highlighted government initiatives like AARYA and Drone Didis that encourage youth participation and women's empowerment in agriculture.
The inaugural session delved into the role of microorganisms in sustainable farming. Dr Sudarshan Maurya conducted practical training on mushroom cultivation, specifically aimed at female farmer groups from different regions. This session underscored the need to embrace environmentally friendly practices for long-term success in agriculture.
The subsequent session presided over by Dr Anand Kumar Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Chandrashekhar Azad Agriculture University, Kanpur, acknowledged agriculture as the foundation of rural self-sufficiency.
Specialists such as Dr. Tushar Kanti Behera and Dr. Sudhakar Pandey discussed opportunities for entrepreneurship in vegetable farming and the nutritional benefits of vegetables for human health. The session also touched upon advancements in the production and export of fruits and flowers, offering farmers valuable insights into various horticultural opportunities.
The IIVR's Agri Fair went beyond mere dissemination of information. It served as a platform for farmers to engage with experts, discover new technologies, and acquire practical skills. This exchange of knowledge enables them to make informed decisions, adopt sustainable practices, and boost their agricultural productivity and income.
