Himachal Pradesh is launching a mobile van program as part of the Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Kisan Yojana (PK3Y) to promote environmentally friendly farming.

In a significant move towards promoting organic and chemical-free farming practices, Himachal Pradesh has rolled out a Mobile Van Program aimed at delivering fresh, organic produce directly to consumers' doorsteps.
Himachal Pradesh is launching a mobile van program as part of the Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Kisan Yojana (PK3Y) to promote environmentally friendly farming. The initiative aligns perfectly with the state's goal of promoting organic farming, reducing chemical usage, and ensuring food safety.
These vans will transport an array of chemical-free farm produce, including vegetables, fruits, grains, and dairy products, all sourced directly from local farmers who adhere to organic farming methods.
Every Friday, mobile vans packed with chemical-free veggies, fruits, ghee, and pickles will roll into prominent Shimla locales. These locations include the state secretariat in Chotta Shimla, the HPU campus in Summerhill, and the Krishi Bhawan in Boileauganj.
Around 200 farmers who use natural agricultural practices will work together to maintain a consistent supply chain from various farmer clusters in the Shimla district.
Hemis Negi, PK3Y's State Project Director, emphasized that this program will begin as a pilot project in the state capital, in response to increased demand for chemical-free goods. If the experiment is successful, it may be expanded to other districts.
The mobile van operations have been methodically prepared by the State Project Implementing Unit (SPIU), with a Farmer Producer Company (FPC) partner from PK3Y supporting the selling of natural produce at designated sites.
PK3Y, which was founded in Himachal Pradesh five years ago, aims to promote natural farming techniques, resulting in sustainable agriculture and healthier produce for consumers.
This chemical-free, cost-effective, and ecologically friendly agricultural method has been adopted by over 1.70 lakh farmers in the state, spanning more than 24,000 hectares of land.

The statement also stated that this natural farming system, which is supported by Padma Shri awardee Subhash Palekar, is centred on indigenous cows. It enables farmers to lessen their dependency on foreign markets by producing farm inputs directly on their fields using cow dung, urine, jaggery, gram flour, and locally available plants.
In addition to promoting healthy eating habits and supporting local farmers, the Mobile Van Program is expected to contribute to the state's eco-tourism industry. As Himachal Pradesh is a popular tourist destination known for its natural beauty, the initiative's focus on sustainable farming aligns with the state's broader goals of preserving its pristine environment.
Overall, the launch of the Mobile Van Program in Himachal Pradesh represents a forward-thinking approach to agriculture and a significant step towards ensuring food security, promoting organic farming, and protecting the environment. It sets a compelling example for other regions in India and around the world to follow in their pursuit of a greener and healthier future.
