Cotton farmers in Gujarat planning to sell their produce under the government’s Minimum Support Price (MSP) procurement system will need to complete registration on the Kapas Kisan mobile app by October 31, 2026. The procurement will be carried out by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) during the upcoming cotton procurement season.

The digital registration system is intended to make the procurement process more organised and transparent while giving farmers access to important information before they visit procurement centres.

Kapas Kisan App Registration for Cotton MSP

Farmers who want to sell cotton under the CCI’s government procurement system at MSP must register through the Kapas Kisan app within the prescribed deadline. Farmers are advised not to wait until the last date and complete the process in advance.

Once registered, farmers can receive information about government procurement centres, procurement schedules and MSP-related procurement policies through the app. Having this information digitally can also help farmers plan their visits and potentially reduce unnecessary waiting and crowding at procurement centres.

Cotton MSP Fixed at Up to ₹8,667 Per Quintal

The government has fixed different MSP rates according to cotton quality. The MSP for long-staple cotton is ₹8,667 per quintal, while the MSP for medium-staple cotton is ₹8,267 per quintal.

Farmers intending to sell their cotton through CCI’s government procurement system will therefore need to complete the prescribed registration process to participate in MSP procurement.

Gujarat Gets ₹134.80 Crore for Cotton Productivity Mission

Along with MSP procurement, Gujarat is also focusing on improving cotton productivity through modern cultivation practices. A budget of ₹134.80 crore has been approved for the state under the Cotton Productivity Mission for the current year.

The mission will cover more than 1 lakh hectares across 21 cotton-producing districts. Under different components, eligible farmers adopting approved modern technologies can receive input assistance.

₹14,000 Assistance for Short-Spacing Cotton

Under the demonstration component of the mission, farmers adopting Closer Spacing Technology can receive input assistance of ₹14,000 per hectare.

To qualify under this component, cotton must be sown at a spacing of 90 cm × 30 cm. The assistance is aimed at encouraging farmers to adopt modern cotton cultivation practices.

₹7,500 Assistance for Integrated Crop Management

Farmers adopting the Integrated Crop Management (ICM) system can receive input assistance of ₹7,500 per hectare. Under this component, cotton is required to be sown at a spacing of 90 cm × 60 cm.

The assistance under the scheme is limited to a maximum area of 2 hectares per farmer per year.

Conditions for Cotton Productivity Assistance

Farmers seeking benefits under the productivity mission must use government-approved or certified cotton varieties or approved Bt cotton seeds. Completing the farmer’s Farmer Registry is also mandatory.

This means Gujarat cotton farmers have two important preparations ahead of the upcoming season: those planning to sell cotton through government procurement at MSP must register on the Kapas Kisan app by October 31, while farmers seeking productivity-related assistance must meet the prescribed technology, seed and registration requirements.
