EKA Mobility, an electric vehicle manufacturer, has partnered with IKEA to provide electric delivery vans for the company's last-mile delivery service in India. EKA Mobility is funded by equity partners Mitsui & Co., Ltd. of Japan and VDL Groep of the Netherlands.

The relationship began with the supply of ten electric vehicles to IKEA, with ambitions to expand the fleet across different regions in India. The usage of electric delivery vans is intended to help IKEA lower its carbon footprint in logistical operations. 

EKA's electric vehicles use battery technology specifically developed for urban situations. This collaboration intends to set a precedent for electric mobility adoption in the retail industry.

EKA Mobility's Chief Growth Officer, Rohit Srivastava, remarked that the relationship with IKEA is an important step forward in their objective to promote sustainable electric mobility solutions in urban logistics. He stated that he is committed to continuing to collaborate with Ikea.

Saiba Suri, Country Customer Fulfilment Manager at IKEA India, highlighted that the company's approach to sustainable logistics entails establishing efficient infrastructure, developing capabilities, and generating opportunities along the value chain. Suri underlined IKEA's commitment to entering new markets with an EV-first strategy and investing in long-term, innovative solutions.
