With higher pollution rules coming into effect in the country in April this year, VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), a joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, anticipates the pricing of its models to rise by up to 5%.

Eicher Motors has been impacted by inflationary pressures as well as the costs associated with meeting the new BS6 specifications. Raw material, fuel, and other input prices have risen, putting pressure on the company's profits. As a result, the corporation has opted to raise prices in order to retain profitability.

Due to new BS6 requirements and inflationary pressure, Eicher Motors, the parent company of Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles, has declared that it will raise the prices of its commercial vehicles by 2-5 per cent.

The price increase is predicted to affect Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles' whole line of commercial vehicles, including trucks and buses. The exact degree of the price rise, however, may vary based on the model and version.

The BS6 regulations are part of the Indian government's efforts to reduce vehicle pollution. The new regulations restrict vehicle emissions of nitrogen oxides, particulate matter, and other pollutants.

The implementation of these restrictions has necessitated enormous expenditure in research and development by manufacturers in order to develop new engines and technologies that match the new standards.

VECV sells trucks with GVWs ranging from 4.9 to 55 tonnes, as well as buses with seating capacities ranging from 12-72 in light, medium, and heavy-duty applications. The company also recorded exceptionally high sales in February, with commercial vehicle (CV) sales exceeding 7,000 units for the third consecutive month.
