This partnership marks a crucial step towards reducing carbon emissions and transitioning towards cleaner transportation solutions.

Eicher Trucks and Buses, a subsidiary of VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV), has announced a partnership with Amazon to further electrify Amazon's middle- and last-mile delivery operations in India.
This collaboration between VECV and Amazon marks a significant milestone in that it aims to introduce up to 1,000 cutting-edge, zero-emission electric trucks across various payload categories into Amazon's delivery operations over the next five years, via Amazon's transport service partners.
This partnership marks a crucial step towards reducing carbon emissions and transitioning towards cleaner transportation solutions. With the growing concerns about the environmental impact of traditional delivery methods, the integration of electric trucks is expected to significantly lower carbon footprints and promote eco-friendly practices in the logistics sector.
Amazon will gradually deploy 50 Eicher electric trucks in important hubs including as Delhi, Manesar, and Gurugram as a first step in the collaboration over the next months. Eicher's electric trucks with enhanced digital capabilities will be built on the company's established electric vehicle platform, which is already in use in bus applications.
The trucks, with deck lengths varying from eight to twenty-four feet, will be outfitted with customized cargo stacking configurations. To satisfy the needs of certain operations, fast and slow charging alternatives will be available.
The service solution also considers charging infrastructure availability, operational requirements, charging time limits, battery capacity, and the fleet's overall energy management methods.
Amazon has successfully integrated EVs in its delivery fleet through delivery service partners across more than 400 locations in India, in line with its aims to increase the usage of electric mobility in its network across the country. Amazon India's engagement with Eicher contributes to Amazon's ambition to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.
This collaboration also highlights the common commitment of both firms to promoting innovation and harnessing sophisticated technology to build a more sustainable future.
"We are pleased to collaborate with Amazon as we begin pilots for Amazon's e-commerce deliveries in Indore, Delhi, Manesar, and Gurugram. This collaboration demonstrates our commitment to supporting smart sustainable solutions and creating a zero-emission transportation ecosystem," said Vinod Aggarwal, Managing Director and CEO of VECV.

Eicher Motors, known for its expertise in commercial vehicle manufacturing, will play a pivotal role in designing, manufacturing, and maintaining electric trucks. Leveraging its experience in producing reliable and durable vehicles, Eicher aims to provide Amazon with cutting-edge electric trucks that meet the demands of last-mile deliveries while reducing operating costs and environmental impact.
By incorporating electric trucks into its delivery fleet, Amazon aims to set an example for the industry and encourage the adoption of green transportation solutions.
In conclusion, the partnership between Eicher Motors and Amazon signifies a significant stride towards greener and more efficient last-mile deliveries. The deployment of 1000 electric trucks over the next five years highlights a shared commitment to environmental sustainability, setting a precedent for cleaner practices in the logistics industry and fostering a greener future.
