In a significant stride towards agricultural innovation, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, inaugurated India's first indigenous e-Tractor today.
The groundbreaking launch took place at the National Agricultural Research Center, showcasing the country's commitment to embracing sustainable farming practices and fostering agri-tech entrepreneurship.
Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science and Technology unveiled the CSIR Prima ET11, the first indigenous e-tractor developed by the Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI), Durgapur.
The launch event was attended by prominent figures from the agriculture and technology sectors, including researchers, entrepreneurs, and government officials.
He also emphasized the importance of Agri start-ups in the Indian economy, as well as the adoption of new and AI-driven agricultural technologies.
According to the Minister, a rising number of new entrepreneurs are entering the agriculture industry, focusing on technologies such as e-tractor, garbage recycling, drip irrigation, and genome-sequenced farms such as Mango and Lotus, among others.
The Union Minister established the notion of the "5 S's" - Showcasing, Stakeholders, Startups, Synergizing, and Strategizing Industry Linkage - as the pillars for the success of government-run scientific institutes' efforts to conduct research and development. He underlined that the harmonious teamwork of these five components is the only way to obtain excellent results.

A theme-based campaign titled "One Week One Lab" will be celebrated from September 11-15, 2023, as part of the CSIR-CMERI's efforts to engage stakeholders and exhibit their cutting-edge research, products, and innovations. This campaign intends to showcase the laboratory's expertise, resources, and successes to a wide range of stakeholders, with the goal of encouraging collaboration and knowledge exchange.
