DAP Fertilizer: New Rules for Distribution Announced
DAP Fertilizer Rules: Documents Needed for Fair Distribution

Key Highlights

  • Farmers must show Khatauni, Aadhaar card, and mobile number to buy DAP.
  • Subsidized DAP costs ₹1,350 per bag at government centers.
  • Distribution based on farmland size to prevent hoarding.
  • Strict action against black marketing and overpricing.
  • Additional fertilizer supplies arriving to meet demand.

Farmers across the country are preparing for the Rabi season, sowing crops like wheat, mustard, and gram. However, with the high demand for DAP fertilizer, challenges have emerged, including long queues, supply shortages, and black marketing. To ensure fair distribution and avoid misuse, the government has introduced new rules for purchasing DAP fertilizer.

Mandatory Documents to Buy DAP Fertilizer

Farmers will now need to show three essential documents when purchasing DAP fertilizer from cooperative societies or government distribution centers:

  1. Khatauni (proof of agricultural land ownership)
  2. Aadhaar Card (for identification)
  3. Mobile Number

Without these documents, farmers will not be able to purchase the fertilizer. Additionally, the quantity of fertilizer allocated to each farmer will depend on the size of their farmland.

Current DAP Prices

The government provides subsidized DAP to farmers at ₹1,350 per bag through official distribution centers. However, in the open market, prices range from ₹1,600 to ₹2,100 per bag. This price difference has raised concerns about black marketing, prompting stricter regulations.

Supply Status and Future Plans

To meet the increasing demand, the government is actively working to boost DAP availability. So far:

  • 117% of the allocated DAP has been supplied by the NFL.
  • Other suppliers like RCF, IFFCO, and Hindalco have also contributed significantly, though some, like KRIBHCO, are lagging behind.

The government has dispatched 127 racks of phosphate fertilizers, with 86 already delivered and 41 expected in the next few days. Efforts are underway to ensure smooth delivery to retailers and farmers.

Crackdown on Black Marketing

Strict measures have been introduced to prevent black marketing and overpricing:

  • Fertilizer sellers must not charge above the maximum retail price (MRP) printed on the bags.
  • Fertilizer companies are prohibited from tagging other products with DAP sales.
  • Violators face legal action, including cancellation of licenses and FIRs.

Government's Assurance

State governments are working tirelessly to ensure that farmers get the DAP they need for a successful harvest. Farmers are encouraged to carry the required documents and stay informed about the distribution rules to avoid delays or issues.

This new system aims to support farmers fairly while curbing misuse and ensuring everyone has access to this essential agricultural input.
