The Cummins B6.7H hydrogen engine is a completely new engine platform that incorporates cutting-edge technology to improve power density, reduce friction losses, and improve thermal efficiency.

Cummins Inc has signed an agreement with Tata Motors, India's commercial vehicle market leader, to collaborate on the design and development of low and zero-emission technology solutions for commercial vehicles in India. As per Tata Motors, the shift to sustainable mobility is irreversible. Tata Motors is the leader in green mobility. Tata is taking decisive steps to accelerate this global megatrend. Cummins Inc is a global provider of power solutions and hydrogen technologies.
Cummins and Tata Motors have a long history of collaboration, and the next step toward low and zero-emissions technologies is a promising development for zero-emissions transportation. Cummins and Tata's collaboration in India marks an important milestone to accelerate the transition to a carbon-free economy and a zero-emissions world. Cummins Inc. and Tata Motors have partnered to provide solutions for hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles. Since 1993, Tata Motors has had a joint venture with Cummins to manufacture mid-range B series diesel engines.
India will be one of the first markets to receive Cummins' hydrogen engines, a critical technology for accelerating decarbonization. Cummins debuted its B6.7H hydrogen engine in September at IAA Transportation. The H2-ICE conversion demonstrates the potential for truck applications with GVWs ranging from 10 to 26 tonnes to run on zero-carbon hydrogen fuel with a range of up to 500 kilometres.
"Working with partners who share the same vision is critical for this transition, and we are thrilled to deepen our long-standing partnership with Cummins for their next-generation, hydrogen propulsion systems. We are thrilled to indigenize cutting-edge hydrogen technology to provide our customers with a broader portfolio of green and future-ready commercial vehicles, accelerate the country's adoption of sustainable mobility, and contribute to India's 'net zero' carbon emission goals." said N Chandrasekaran, Executive Chairman of Tata Sons and Chairman of Tata Motors.
Tom Linebarger, Executive Chairman of Cummins Inc. said, "Climate change is the existential crisis of our time, and this collaboration between Cummins and Tata Motors accelerates our ability to address it. Cummins is well-positioned to assist our customers in making a smooth and successful transition to economically viable decarbonized solutions. This collaboration, we believe, is a significant step toward achieving India's Green Hydrogen Mission. I am excited to help power a cleaner, greener India."
The Cummins B6.7H hydrogen engine is a completely new engine platform that incorporates cutting-edge technology to improve power density, reduce friction losses, and improve thermal efficiency. This engine gives up to 290 hp (216 kW) output and produces 1200 Nm peak torque,
Cummins B6.7H hydrogen engine is compatible with the same transmissions, drivelines, and cooling packages. The B6.7H hydrogen engine is based on Cummins' fuel-agnostic platform, which benefits from a common base architecture and low-to-zero carbon fuel capability.
The fourth-generation hydrogen fuel cell engine is part of Cummins' zero-emission product portfolio. The fuel cell technology is available in 135 kW single and 270 kW dual modules and is designed to meet the duty-cycle, performance, and packaging requirements of medium and heavy-duty trucks and buses. For a lower total cost of ownership, the systems have high operating cycle efficiency and durability. Cummins' battery portfolio includes Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery packs, each of which is designed for a specific duty cycle and use case.
CMV360 always keeps you up to date on the latest government schemes, sales reports, and other relevant news. So, if you're looking for a platform where you can get relevant information about commercial vehicles, this is the place to be. Stay tuned for new updates.
