Billion Electric Partners with JK Cement to Deploy Over 150 Electric Trucks Across India

Key Highlights

  • Billion Electric to deploy over 150 heavy-duty electric trucks for JK Cement.

  • Pilot project begins with 20 electric trucks at Muddapur plant in Karnataka.

  • Trucks will transport cement across Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa.

  • ChargeZone will support operations with charging stations on major freight routes.

  • Partnership aims to reduce logistics emissions and promote electric freight adoption.

In a major step towards sustainable logistics, Billion Electric Mobility has partnered with JK Cement to deploy more than 150 heavy-duty electric trucks during the current financial year. The initiative aims to reduce emissions from cement transportation while accelerating the adoption of electric commercial vehicles in India's freight sector.

The deployment has already started with a pilot fleet of 20 electric trucks, each having a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 55 tonnes, at JK Cement's Muddapur plant in Karnataka. These trucks will transport cement to stockyards located across Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa.

Complete Electric Freight Solution

Under the partnership, Billion Electric Mobility will provide an end-to-end electric freight solution for JK Cement. This includes:

  • Heavy-duty electric trucks

  • Charging infrastructure

  • Fleet operations

  • Route planning and management

The companies said this integrated approach will help JK Cement gradually shift its logistics operations from conventional fuel-powered trucks to electric mobility.

ChargeZone to Power the Electric Truck Fleet

The electric truck fleet will be supported by ChargeZone's EV charging network across major freight corridors in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa.

To ensure smooth operations, charging infrastructure is being expanded at several strategic locations, including:

  • Nipani

  • Satara

  • Pune

  • Karad

  • Ratnagiri

  • Sindhudurg

  • Goa

  • Hubli

  • Davanagere

This growing charging network is expected to improve route coverage and reduce downtime for long-haul electric freight vehicles.

Company Leaders on the Partnership

Pushparaj Singh, Group President, Marketing at JK Cement, said the collaboration is part of the company's broader efforts to reduce emissions generated through its logistics operations and support more sustainable transportation.

Sanjeev Kulkarni, Chief Executive Officer of Billion Electric Mobility, said the partnership highlights the increasing acceptance of electric trucks for commercial freight. He added that Billion Electric's integrated platform, supported by ChargeZone's nationwide charging network, is designed to help businesses transition smoothly to electric freight transportation.

A Model for Sustainable Industrial Logistics

Both companies believe the partnership can become a benchmark for electric freight adoption in India's industrial logistics sector. By combining electric truck deployment with an expanding charging ecosystem along key transport corridors, the project demonstrates how large-scale freight operations can transition towards cleaner mobility.

About the Companies

Billion Electric Mobility operates an Electric Mobility-as-a-Service (eMaaS) platform focused on commercial transportation solutions. Its group company, ChargeZone, manages one of India's growing EV charging networks, supporting electric passenger and commercial vehicles.

JK Cement, a part of the JK Organisation, is one of India's leading manufacturers of grey and white cement. The company began its journey in 1975 with its first grey cement manufacturing plant at Nimbahera, Rajasthan, and has since expanded its presence across the country.

CMV360 Says

The partnership between Billion Electric Mobility and JK Cement marks another important milestone in India's transition to cleaner freight transportation. With over 150 heavy-duty electric trucks planned for deployment, integrated fleet management, and an expanding charging network across key freight corridors, the initiative is expected to reduce logistics-related emissions while demonstrating the commercial viability of electric trucks in large-scale industrial operations. As more businesses adopt similar solutions, electric freight mobility is likely to play a bigger role in building a greener and more sustainable logistics ecosystem.
