Who Can Benefit from the Subsidy?
Under this scheme, the government will provide financial support to both individual farmers and farmer groups. Here’s a breakdown:
- Individual Farmers: Can receive a 50% subsidy on equipment costs.
- SC/ST Farmers: Qualify for a 60% subsidy.
- Farmer Groups: Category A groups get 70% subsidy or up to ₹8.08 lakh; Category B groups can receive up to ₹23.489 lakh; and Category C groups qualify for a maximum subsidy of ₹90.68 lakh.
The Sugarcane Industry Department has issued a notification, detailing the guidelines and benefits available under the scheme.
What Equipment Is Covered?
The subsidy will cover a wide range of equipment essential for sugarcane farming, including:
- Seed Treatment Machines
- Planting Equipment
- Weed Control Tools
- Harvesting Machines
- Sugarcane Juice Extractors
With high costs for certain machines, such as a sugarcane harvester priced at ₹96 lakh, these subsidies make it easier for farmers to invest in advanced technology. Additionally, farmer groups and sugar mills can establish Farm Machinery Banks to make these tools more accessible to the community.
