Not only Ashok Leyland, but practically every major CV manufacturer, including Tata Motors, Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles (VECV), and others, are aiming to harness the potential of AI and other technologies along similar lines.

Vinod G, Ashok Leyland's Chief Information Officer, believes that cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) technologies such as generative pre-trained transformers (GPT) have the potential to radically alter the automobile industry. This will have an impact on every aspect of the company's operations, including production, sales, financing, human resource management, and safety, to name a few.
Not only Ashok Leyland, but practically every major CV manufacturer, including Tata Motors, Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles (VECV), and others, are aiming to harness the potential of AI and other technologies along similar lines.
Vinod, who has been with the trucking company for nearly 28 years, claims that GPT can be utilized for a variety of purposes, including client recommendations, appraisal, negotiation, acquisition, operations, maintenance, and finally vehicle disposal. It can assist OEMs such as Ashok Leyland and others in overcoming manufacturing bottlenecks while also enhancing vehicle procedures, design, and quality.

GPT is a huge language model that has been taught to be informative and thorough. It is also known as a conversational AI or chatbot. It was trained using enormous amounts of text data and can respond to a range of prompts and questions by communicating and generating human-like writing.
Vinod stated that MIHU, which stands for "May I Help You," is a speech-powered bot that translates voice to text using natural text processing, and that it assists them with HR and business issues. When queried about sales, for example, the bot not only gives a detailed response but also slices and dices the data based on geographies and goods.
Similarly, a "supplier buddy" bot aids the company's suppliers in replying to questions about functions such as invoices and payments.
According to Ashok Leyland, about 1.5 lahks of its vehicles are linked to iAlert, the company's connected vehicle platform. Every day, it analyses about a terabyte of data and tracks more than 25 million kilometres of vehicle operation based on more than 130 characteristics from the vehicle's ECU (Electronic Control Unit).
This data, together with information from its customer relationship management system and dealership business management platform, provides a comprehensive insight into how its vehicles operate, how productive they are, how safe they are, and how to keep expenses low.
To summarize, as AI advances, it is anticipated to have a significant impact on the automotive industry. AI-powered technologies have the potential to improve safety, efficiency, and productivity, and they may even lead to the production of previously unimaginable forms of vehicles.
