The summit, themed ‘empowering tomorrow – together today,’ provided insights into Daimler Truck's corporate strategy and future technology topics. At this event, seven global suppliers were also honoured with the Daimler Truck Supplier Award, with two of them being recognized for their excellent sustainability commitment.
Apollo Tyres, based in India, is one of the two suppliers recognized for its commitment to biodiversity and CO₂ neutrality. The seven winners were chosen based on their exceptional performance and excellent partnership-based collaboration.
Importance of Supplier Partnerships
Andreas Gorbach, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler Truck Holding AG and responsible for Truck Technology, stated, "Our sector is facing a significant challenge as we progress toward decarbonization and digitization. However, we at Daimler Truck see this as a significant opportunity, and we want to seize it. Strong, dependable, and long-term relationships with our suppliers are now more important than ever. Together, we are making diesel engines more efficient and clean. At the same time, we are accelerating zero-emission drives and enhancing our vehicles' intelligence with electronics and software. We are proud and grateful to be able to collaborate with such great partners, as we can only influence the future together."
Dr. Marcus Schoenenberg, Head of Global Procurement & Supplier Management at Daimler Truck, stated, "We want to lead the way in sustainable transportation. To be successful, we need suppliers who share our vision, contribute their ideas, and see us as a trusted and strong partner. That's what we hope to express during the Supplier Summit."
Daimler Truck held five workshops and a panel discussion with its partners on themes such as autonomous driving, supply chain sustainability, and macroeconomic changes.
Suppliers were also able to get a firsthand look at Daimler Truck's latest products and innovations through driving experiences and product presentations. In this approach, Daimler Truck hopes to provide its suppliers with behind-the-scenes access and encourage further exchange of ideas.
